This poem is about the feelings everyone feels when either them or someone they know leaves from home, whether it's to go to college, or just running away. I hope you enjoy it.
To take one look, and leave alone
the warm, small place, you once called home
the warmth, long gone in wake of dark
and drowned out too, your dogs same bark
the moment your feet, had left the porch
and into the night; you, and your torch
to lock eyes again, with those you love
or turn and run; what's done be done.
They rose you up, to what you are
they dried your tears, and cleansed your scars
and promised you, a greater good
you pushed them back. I knew you would.
As they grow old, and you grow strong
you switch your gaze, avoid the wrong
you turn the cheek like all is well
But they still know, and think, and dwell.
On long gone times, when spring began
you showed them love, and laughed, and ran
for what they'd need, was nothing more
But all went with you, through the door
And yourself too, you know it's true
of all of those, that think of you
of all of those, who drew you near
so tell them what, they want to hear
They waved through tears, your last goodbyes
the bitter truth, your childhood lies
All revealed, in your cold voice
in final choice, was no rejoice.

What I'm thinking

Oh dear. looks like I fell out of the space-time continuum.
AND. I just stole your lungs.
AND. I just stole your lungs.
