What I'm thinking
How to kill time.
His icy pupils stared through me, scanning my soul, judging and calculating what fitting punishment awaited at the end of the block, watching past atrocities strung along like string on a kite. As a collective entity, they gazed back, hungry, hawklike and eternally scolding. Just peering into the unforgiving faces locked my legs, like the shackles soon would. The simple wooden chair in which I sat had carried the past sins and guilt of lost souls before me, I felt the anguish and pain binding me, tying me to the great descent; into the unknown bounds of prison life. His spectacles shined, highlighting the pale contours of his face whilst he read of my past. Spitting out the words angrily as would Peter or Gabriel, his cold tone broke me down further - till I too, was to become the nothingness which awaited. Blank faces looked on, them also realising the futility of my safeguard. I looked straight on back at them, defiant in the face of defeat. The judge finished his ramblings, and gazing at me accusingly, addressed me. “For the atrocities caused by your hand, the fabric of lives you furiously tore and shredded, you shall dwell and eventually fade out in the cells you’ll now call home, for a lifetime. May god have mercy upon your soul”. With his silence, everything I knew built up into my heart, questioning me, craving the answers of which I could bare none. The melting memories drifted once before my eyes, and thus, along with the light of hope, were extinguished as the judge’s hammer hit the desk. “The end” were only ever two words, so carelessly linked together. This was just the beginning.
