It's In Concert again! Only nine more hours til I must depart for the PAC. But I'm only partially happy...I got a cold or allergies or something and I don't want to be broadcasted on a local channel sneezing all over the place. Not to mention, since I had to go to an all day rehearsal two days ago, I got an extension on my report til Tuesday.
Yesterday, I had to make up two quizzes, one of them causing me to lose my whole lunch hour....
Besides a crapload of overthinking, at least there was some downtime, and I watched "The Red Violin". I haven't seen that in so long.
I disgress.....last week I got an early b day present....a new viola! I can finally do vibrato without having to stretch my arm so much. The salesperson said that my old viola was too big for me anyway.
About my new one.....there's a stripey pattern, along with vintage like varnish. The pegs, the tailpiece, and the chinrest are of the same wood. As for the fingerboard, it is real ebony wood, not painted like my old one. The only bad thing is that the shoulder rest doesn't fit firmly around the body; the original Kun viola rest doesn't fit 3/4 violas.
The sound of the viola is really nice too; you don't have to make an effort to produce a big sound.
Even though I want KHII and Advent Children for my b day, I guess it can just wait for now.
