Also, I started YouTube-ing Cyndi Lauper music videos to make sure I had that song title right and... what the crack? All I can say is that the 80's must have been one hell of a drug rolled into one for any of that to make sense. You're right, he's wrong, and on top of being wrong he's being a jerk about it. Guilt-tripping people is not cool. Ever. And volunteering people to do things without consulting with them first isn't cool. The military calls that "voluntelling" and no one wants to be voluntold. Tell him to back off and next time ask you before including you in plans. It's a bad, bad word. Baaaaad. People get voluntold to do the things they would never choose to do, like scrub the grout in the bathroom with a toothbrush.
