January 12 (Four days before execution, three days before escape):

The smell of sweat, urine, defecation, and blood filled my nostrils. I watched as the guards paced in front of my cell. I sat up slightly, thinking about the past events that lead up to now. How long was I in here? I closed my eyes to think...think...think...

"Hey Charlie! Another round for everyone!" a roar of drunken cheers and laughter erupted in the small establishment. I had my head down, staring at a blank sheet of paper like all the words I wanted to say were going to magically appear on it. A hand on my shoulder made me raise my head. I held gaze with bright blue eyes. "Oh hey, Garrison," I mumbled, looking back at the paper. He set a glass of milk on the table I was sitting at, "Shense said that you may want this." He took a seat across from me, "Are you writing something?" I nodded, fiddling with the mini ball point pen i found on the ground. "Care to share your thoughts?" he asked while leaning in to hear.

"Well-" a loud crash interrupted me. Shense suddenly appeared next to us. "Fight or flight. Get ready to pick one," the smooth voice escaped Shense's lips. I grabbed a pad of post it notes and the pen and shoved it into my bra. Another loud crash...darkness.

I peered over at the crack in the wall that had a small piece of yellow paper sticking out of it. I grabbed it quickly, reading over the note. Garrison. His voice seemed oddly distant, yet I could hear clearly. The deep, sinister voice recited the words on the paper, 'The three of us were accused of terrorism. Held in 1A, the worst of the worst. Shense & I made a plan. Escaping in 3 days. You in?' The pen pushed its way through the crack. I took it and wrote my response. 'I'm in.'
