Is this a revolution
or just another constant state of affairs?
How can we sit here
arguing like like birds chattering in the trees,
with beatific grins--not bothering to hear--
while so many of our kinsmen
lie broken in the streets?
They search high and low, near and far
for a simple smile,
a sign to show them that there's still hope;
yet we, who are fortunate,
offer them little more than a piteous stare.
Where did we go wrong,
and what ever happened
to turn the act of love into merely a noun?
