"Don't be stupid Griever, if she see's you I'm gonna be scubing floors again!" He commented sharply to the creatures akward dance
"Don't be stupid!" Griever repeated as he slipped into one of the many holes of the ruined orphanage. Griever had to keep a low profile. As far as Ms.Crescent knew Griever had long since paid his visit to the pound.
Eagerly the children ran ahead of Serafin in the crowded halls they all had something to look forward to, a meal; something Serafin was short of. His duty was to go into town and retrive and deliever packages in the morn. Yes, it was akwardly kind of Ms. Crescent to give an outside task to her most hated orphan but with her age catching up with her she'd grown to weak to beat him daily. Instead, not having to see his face would do for her. Blankly he took the list of addresses and bag of gold off the hallway's counter.
"Thank the heavens, only 1 today!" He twirled happily leaving out the back door, Griever running up his right side from a gutter. "You smell horrid!" He covered his nose to the rancid scent.
"I'm sorry sir, the sewers ran out of fresh pine!" Griever snapped speeding his pace "Everyday, this place seems more filthy!" He whined as they approched the markets of the town. Rats ran freely on cobblestone roads. The smell of weeks old trash and animal 'droppings' was home here.
"One teardrop stone! Thats easy as...well its easy." Serafin laughed as his terrible joke as it seemed to fail at distracting Griever attention on the fish for sale. "Don't get any stupid ideas, I haven't bought the package yet and I'm in no mood for a chase!" He made sure Griever heard picking him up and placing the small creature on his shoulder. Griever had a tendancy to start a town chase over a small Bass that if grew; lead to a month's rest in the rain in Serafin's view.
"I've already learned that fish are disgusting in this world, it makes me sick to think you humans eat it!" He showed his tounge in a childish digust, which Serafin pushed back quickly as they entered the main trading tent. Most where outside in smaller stands but better goods as well as exspensive where found inside tents.
"You come here for, child?!" The trader snapped. He was used to this with his ratty, poor look. "What could he afford if he couldn't buy good clothes?" Was there usual presumption
"One teardrop stone." He whispered. Serafin learned the hard way, asking aloud of exspensive items could attract bad attention and flaunting gold could cause 'not coming home tonight' incidents. Stealthy he pushed the gold under the table top, the Merchant turned quickly and gave him a small bag.
"Nice day sir!" the Merchant turned greedily counting his gold coins from view
"When will a normal merchant show up?" Serafin tied the small bag to his waist and made for the alley's.
"When the book opens!" Griever laughed scaling the walls of the alley.
"Wait you mangy animal!" Serafin followed only much slower till he reached the roof of the building "Well..."He gasped for breath "She wrote red pointed roof, only one like that." He looked around with an expert's eye for detail. Climbing roofs to deliever became safer and easier since more strange cults began to showup in the crowded city. "There!" He pointed and Griever made a jump no living creature of this world could ever do. "Paitence you a**!"He yelled as Griever landed on the roof. It took Serafin 4 jumps to make it to the roof safely.
"You humans are such a drag!" Griever laughed, heading down the rusty fire escape that seemed to creak lower at each pounce he made.
Shakliy He mad his way down the escape. "You nimrod!" He aimed to boot Griever but turned and made way for if the package was late so would his lunch be, for 2 weeks. "Umm, I'm here with a package from Ms.Crescent?" Serafin felt sick as his voice echoed through the front hall. "Maybe I shouldn't of let myself in..." He thought as the door slamed behind him. Outside the place it appeared as a rundown apartment building, inside it resembled an antique home with a grand hall and double entrance stairs.
"Come in..." An older womans voice echoed, in the corner by the stairs she stood masked in a white mask. Resembling a fox spirt, a kitsune. He body wore a large black dress, covering every bit of her skin.
Akwardly he approched her and placed the stone in her gloved hand, she handed him one in exchange. "Thankyou for using our service." He gave her a small bow and turned to the door, Griever waited calmliy as he opened the door
"Ah," She whispered in a raspy voice "A pet from The World of eternal sleep or better suited as the World of Requiem?"
Serafin and Griever both looked at her speechless and lost for words.
