Memento Mori

This is really nothing more then a quick update for anyone who checks in here and is interested in knowing what I am currently up to when it comes to All Things Gaia.

Mostly I am just scrounging around for the time to even think about working on things in here; how these next few weeks go will pretty much determine how much, if any, I get to really be on here and working on any given project. Most of the time now all I can do is get on, spam some profiles and make sure my PMs have not overflowed once more. Basically I get just enough of a glimpse to know how in the hole I am. xD

It is okay, however, because I have a plan and while I did not get to implement it at the beginning of the month like I had originally wanted to, I have no excuses or reasons not to get on with it now. I know what I want to do and how I want to do it and so now all I have to do is get on with the show. For me, the hardest part has always been about getting moving. Once I am up and going there is no stopping me.

My plan for tonight before I head off to bed is to clean out my Friend's List once more, this time getting it down to four pages or less. It is a real emotional trip for me because I have kept some of these people on my list since my first week on Gaia, and as any regular of this journal knows, Flare is a mighty big fan of Gaia and tends to form emotional attachments to just about damn-near anything in her realm.* So doing a purge like this is just really a mind-trip for me.

Strange, my theme here recently has been all about purging, cleaning out, making space, and getting rid of things. It's affecting all parts of my life- work, home, health, and online matters. I guess it is just finally sinking in that there's no need or use to hold so damn tightly to everything I come across. It might be because of the harsh reality I faced not too long ago: stretching yourself too thin helps no one. After facing that particular demon I started to really kick this purging business into high-gear. Which reminds me: this week, probably the day after the new Marvel group gets together (all powers-that-be willing), I am going to start really digging into the apartment and getting rid of the stuff I have been hoarding. So wish me luck; for me that old psychological adage about being able to look at someone's personal space and being able to tell what is going on in their head is absolutely the truth. I've held onto certain thoughts and beliefs for far too long. Time to clear out the junk and the mess and start over.

First the apartment, and then Gaia. The mess was not made overnight, so it will not be fixed overnight, but not working on it at all will ensure nothing ever gets fixed or changes or gets better.

And right now I am all about making things better.

* I kept my first Redbull pull-tab-ring-thinger. 3nodding heart

Sexy update as of 1:34 AM, September 14th, 2009: I am down to an even number of friends- which delights my OCD- and managed to get the list down to four pages, which was really my goal to begin with. 3nodding I am very pleased and will now sort through my backed-up PMs so I have a count number on those. I will spend my day later working on them and hope to have most if not all of them done by the time I have to go to bed. I have a double at work on Tuesday, plans for Wednesday afternoon, and probably will not have another free day until next week to work on things again. I am putting myself on a schedule but with everything going on it could be a few weeks before it really starts to pay off.

But hey- progress is progress!
