Fighting Spirit!
Yo yo and hello.
As a an avid fan of fighting games I am often asked which is my favorite? So I have compiled a list of some of my favorite Fighting Games.
1. Blazblue: As a fan of Guilty Gear, I was quite at home with this spiritual successor. Although it is easy for people unfamiliar with fighting games to get into it, it's still tailored to the more Hardcore fighting nerds.
2. Mortal Kombat (series): aaah Mortal Kombat. You know folks, Japan is well known for their fighting games... hell they've pretty much mastered the ******** genre. But everynow and then... when Venus lines up with Uranus, another country makes a kickass fighter. Mortal Kombat and the next game on the list take the cake.
3. Killer Instinct: Remember this? Anyone? Seriously? Damn. Well after MK there came another great fighting game made outside of Japan. Killer Instinct. This game was absolute fun and as a youngling I always found myself at the local arcade with friends playing Killer Instinct. ULTRA COMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
4. Dissidia: While not exactly a fighting game (I considered it more to be a one x one action RPG), I wanted to give notice to this game's well thought out,, challenging and fun fighting system. Though the game does suffer from SNK Boss Syndrome it is only a mild infection.
5. Samurai Shodown (series): After Street Fighter came out, alot of companies looked to milk money off the idea. Most were pretty basic fighters (like KoF and such). But SNK's Samurai Shodown brought something new to the plate. Rather than flashy combos like SF or KoF, Samurai Shodown was more strategic and relied heavily on powerful, well timed strikes.
Guilty Gear: Where else can you find a fighting game with a Zombie (Zato-1), a one armed girl samurai (Baiken), Robots (Robo-ky) and little girls with anchors (May)?
6. Soul Calibur 4: While basic in gameplay, the true charm of this game is customization. Thanks to it's kickass character customization and creator, one can make countless warriors. But also expect to see alot of half assed Ichigos or Sailor Moons during online play.
7. Street Fighter 4: While sporting impresssive Okami-esque graphics, the game kept it's 2D fighting spirit. While the American Voice Acting and story mode was a bit... lacking in luster, the game is fun, pure and simple... fun.
8. Sengoku Basara Battle Heroes: This Japan only PSP gem holds true to it's Crowd Combat style gameplay but does well with two on two fighting. This is a good game for all your importers out there. Also dont worry about the story... if you know a thing or two about Japanese History or played Samurai Warriors then you pretty much know the story.
9. Arcana Heart: This game deserve special mention as that one fighting game I CANT ******** BEAT! Even with it's Guilty Gear style gameplay this game is loads of fun to play with other people.
