ATTENTION: All magic spells in this section were created by Hajime Kanazaka, the author of Slayers, and are fictional. Any resemblence to magic listed here and reality are coincidental! So don't try this at home! ^_^ Black magic is used for death and destruction essentially. It gets it's power from negative emotions other the world such as anger, hate, terror, and pain. Lina is basically the only person who really uses black magic. Lina's speciality is from the offensive category of black magic ^_^
Black Magic Offensive Spells:
Blast Ash: This magic calls into the strong forces of darkness to literally blast the target into ash! Kinda like disentegrate.
Boost: Chant: "Lord of Darkness of the Four Worlds I call upon you Grant me all the power that you possess" The boost spell is used to activate talismans or magic items. Lina, and Xelloss both use this spell to activate the demon's blood talismans. Vrumugun also uses it in Slayers ep. 16 to activate an orb.
Dragon Slave: Chant: "Darkness beyond twilight Crimson beyond blood that flows Buried in the flow of time In thy great name I pledge myself to darkness All the fools who oppose us will be destroyed by the power you and I possess Dragon Slave" The dragon slave is one of the strongest spells in black magic it has a HUGE explosion radius and can easily destroy villages. (^_^) It was developed and created by the great black wizard, Rei Magnus. This spell gets it's power from Ruby-Eye Saburanigudu. In order for maxium effectency the chant can be used. Around when it was first developed Rei Magnus used it to kill a dragon with the name Dragon Slayer, but over time the name was corrupted into Dragon Slave
Disfang: The Disfang spell creates a huge dark dragon within the magician's shadow. The dragon engulfs the target in pure negative energy. This spell can only be used when light is present.
Dynast Breath: Chant: "Supreme King of the frozen soul Grant me the power of your icy rage Dynast Breath" Using the power of the dark general Dynast Grausherra this magic instantly freezes the enemy and then turns into mist. The spell can be arranged to give the magician an ice statue, or pillar of ice.
Dynast Brass: This spell creates a pentagram under the target which then explodes upward into negative energy. This also gets power from Dynast Grausherra.
Laguna Blast: This spell taps into the power of the Hellmaster in order to shoot a ball of dark plasma at the target.
Hell Blast: This spell also calls upon the evil Hellmaster. It creates a dark lance that when shot at an enemy sucks the life out of it. It is a very fast spell and only effects living things.
Gaav Flare: Chant: "Dragon of darkness which sleeps in the inferno Lend me your roar to burn my enemies to ashes Gaav Flare" This taps into the power of the Chaos Dragon Gaav, another one of Saburanigudu's dark generals. It creates a very strong ray of fire and dark energy that burrows through targets.
Dark Claw: This spell creates a ball of dark energy that shoots compleatly through the target leaving a large hole.
Blast Wave: This spell is used to crate openings or tunnels big enough for a person to crawl through. It is usually used on walls or floors. The caster has to be in direct contact with the thing for this spell to work.
Dolph Zork: This spell taps into the power of the dark general Deep Sea Dolphin to create a huge blade of ice that can cut through almost everything. In order for this spell to work a large amount of water is needed.
Dolph Slash: This is another one of Deep Sea Dolphin's spells. This one is EXTREMELY powerful! It creates a spear of ice that can be shot at the enemy at the speed of sound. This is almost immposible to avoid, and needs no water to activate.
Ruby Eye Blade: Using the power of Ruby Eye Sabaranigudu the spell creates a very powerful glowing red sword. This sword is as strong as the sword of light and can cut through ANYTHING.
Xellass Blitz: Using the power of the Beastmaster, Xellass Metallium, this spell creates an intense whirling boomerang which can be controlled by the caster to damage an enemy. It is mainly used to disrupt, and dispel white magic spells.
Xellass Bleed: This is another of the Beastmaster, Xellass Metallium's, spells. It creates an intensely powerful beam of light that can be willed to go in any direction. It is one of the stronger black magic spells
Meteor Fall: Chant: "The one who watches us from above Show me your awesome power Meteor Fall" This spell is shrouded in secrecy it draws meteors from outer space to rain down on an area at the casters command. ::cough:: Although there is a reason why it's been kept a secret.... ^_^;;
Ferias Bleed: Chant: "Stars which pass through heaven's night skies Heed the ancient covenant with the earth I pledge my life that he may be called forth Ferias Bleed" This spell is used to summon a small animal or creature. The creature can be used as a direct link to reality and thereby dispel any illusions the caster is trapped in.
Giga Slave: Chant: "Darkness beyond the blackest pitch Deeper then the deepest night King of Darkness who shines like gold on the sea of chaos I call upon thee, swear myself to thee Let the fools who stand before me be destroyed by the power you and I possess Giga Slave" The Giga Slave calls power from the Lord of Nightmares (The strongest evil one of them all.) This spell completely destroys the target by enveloping it in darkness, and nightmares. This spell is a modified version of the Dragon slave and it's attack radius is A LOT larger then it. However if this spell is used improperly or miscast it envelops the world in darkness and returns it to chaos. (Basically world go boom as Lina would say ^_^.) This spell was first used by Lina against Sabaranigudu in the first series in conjunction with the Sword of Light. This spell is considered by some people to be in a seperate category of magic called Dark Magic. Giga Slave (Complete version): This spell is the full powered version of the above magic. Not even Lina can control it and it can lead to the destruction of the world. Currently Lina has sealed the spell.
Laguna Blade: Chant: "Lord of the teriffying dreams Sword of cold and darkness Free yourself from the bonds of heaven Become one with my power, one with my body And let us walk the path of destruction together Power that can smash even the souls of the gods Laguna Blade" Using the power of the Lord of Nightmares this spell creates a dark sword pulsing with electricity and negative energy. IT can cut through dimentional barriers. Lina learned this spell from a Clair Bible in Slayers NEXT. In order for this spell to be cast Lina has to use the Boost spell on her demon's blood talismans. The US release of Slayers translates this spell as "Ragna Blade" Laguna Blade (Complete Version): This spell is the full powered version of the Laguna Blade. In this version the blade is a lot bigger and stronger. However because it's so strong it uses the casters energy up quickly so can only be used for a short time before the caster collapses from exaustion.
White magic gets it's power from positive emotions of the world. Rather then having destructive effects this category of magic focuses on healing, protection, and exorcisms. Shilfiell is specialized in this category of magic and is very adept with it.
White Magic Spells:
Lighting: Chant: "Light of life brighter then crimson flame Let thy power gather in my hand Lighting" This is the easiest spell in the Slayers universe to learn. It creates a ball of magical energy which, depending on the caster's will, can give off just enough light to brighten a dark room or be bright enough to blind a person.
Sleeping: This spell (As the name implies...) Puts people to sleep. The effects can last up to half a day and the object can't be physically awakend. It is also the second easiest of all spells to learn
Dicleary: This spell is used to heal ailments such as magic induced sleep, poison, muteness, and paralysis. It is the second most used white magic spell next to Recovery
Flow Break: Chant: "O power of light And earth and wind Break now this evil spell Flow Break" The Flow Break spell creates a field so all enchantments on people, objects, or illusions that are not White Magic to be dispeled.
Recovery: Chant: "Blessed, humble hand of God Breath of Mother Earth I pray thee come before me Show your great compassion to this person and deliver them Recovery" The recovery spell speeds up a living beings natural healing and regeneration process in order to cure any wound at an accelerated rate.
Megiddo Flare: Chant: "You who are not of this world Pitiful, twisted creatures By the Light of Purity I posses I bid thee be gone to the nexus of our two worlds Megiddo Flare" This is an exorcism spell used for dispeling ghosts and exorcising them out of people. It creates a pillar of light between the human world and the astral plane. The pillar pulls the ghosts upward where they go to the astral plane. This spell can also be used to calm animals. (Note: Megiddo is a city in Isreal where the last battle at the end of the world is suposed to take place. The word "Armageddon" means "The end at Megiddo".)
Rafas Seed: This spell paralyzes a target it causing it to not be able to speak or move for an hour unless the spell is dispeled.
Lock: The Lock spell automatically locks any target that already posseses a lock, like doors or boxes.
Unlock: Chant: "Unmoving doors By my magic powers Open yourselves to me Unlock" This spell is the opposite of the Lock spell and can unlock a locked target. Varumashied: This is a protection spell that can increase your defense against harmful magic. It can also be used to enchant armor making it resistant to magic attacks.
Chaos String: This spell is used to control any rope or string in an area to tie up a target by the casters command.
Exist Ball: The Exist Ball spell shoots a beam of light from the caster's palms and can be used to put out fires.
Vas Gurude: This spell creates a barrier of white magic around the caster and can block magic attacks.
Mos Valim: With this spell the caster can shoot white energy at an incoming attack spell and dispel it.
Holy Bless: This is an EXTREMELY strong exorcisim spell it creates a huge wave of light that destroys any undead in the area.
Resurrection: This spell can not be used to bring the dead back to life. It heals major wounds on a living person like broken bones, or damaged organs. (BTW Shilfiell has not yet cast Ressurection in any Slayers TV series. She cast something that looked like Resurrection but was actually a recovery spell. She can cast it in the novels and the Slayers video game.)
Reverse Time: Chant: "Time which has passed Be called back once more" This spell is used to rewind the state of objects that are targeted by this spell. For example in episode 3 Rezo uses this spell to fix Lina's inn room, that was destroyed by a Fire Ball, back to what it originally was before the Fire Ball hit.
Shamanist magic gets it's power from the 5 elements. These elements are Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Spirit. This category of magic has the most amount of spells and are the most commonly used. Just about every Magic user in Slayers uses Shamanist magic. Shamanist Earth Spells:
Dil Brando: (Also called Dare Brando in the translated Slayers comics) This spell causes the ground under a target to explode upwards hurling them into the air. The explosion generally isn't as painful as the impact of the fall after the peron hits the ground. The caster can vary it's effectiveness so it can be used to wake up a sleeping person without causing much damage to ignjuring multiple people at once. (This is one of Lina's personal favorite spells)
Mega Brando: (This is spell was once translated as "Mega Brunt" in Slayers vol. 4) This is a stronger version of Dil Brando. It is more powerful and as a wider range of effectiveness so it can be used to destroy many people or a part of a large building. This spell also causes massive dirt clouds to be created making it hard for opponents to see.
Vlave Howl: Chant: "Infinite earth mother who nurtures all life Let thy power gather in my hand Vlave Howl" The Vlave Howl spell summons lava from deep within the earth to be summoned in order to attack the target. After a short time the lava will cool and turn to stone making it a useful way to temporarily block incoming attackers.
Dug Haut: Chant: "Earth below me Submit to my will Dug Haut" Using this spell the caster draws earth energy into their hand then slam it into the ground in order to create sharp stone spikes to surge upward from the ground. These spikes can impale the targets. This spell also causes a minor earthquake that can no people in the area over.
Bephis Bring: By drawing power from the earth elemental, Bephis, the caster can create tunnels or holes in the ground. It only works on earthen material and doesn't affect metal or wood
Vigas Gaia: This spell creates an earthquake that depending on the casters need can be large or relatively small. For example it can destroy entire structues or be weak enough to seal cave passages.
Vu Vu Raima: A spell that calls upon the earth elemental, Bephis, to create stone golems. The golem then obeys the caster but does not posses great intelligence. Also this spell can create golems from rock or be used to animate already created statues.
Mega Vu Raima: A stronger version of Vu Raiwa. This spell is a lot easier to control can be used to make extremely large golems almost flawlessly. This also uses spirt shamanism that infuses spirits into the golem creating limited intelligence. However the spirits can make the golem disobey the caster.
Vu Raima Special: A spell developed by Lina. It manipulates blocks of stone to be chiseled or molded into a shape of the caster's desire. It provides a quick way to make decorative stone ornaments without having to physically chisel a block of stone yourself.
Vu Raiwa: A spell often used by Naga it creates stone dragon golems. However the caster needs to have lots of practice in order for it to work smoothly. (^_^; wink
Golem: A crude golem spell used to make relatively weak golems. Because this is such a low level spell the golems are easily shattered and are mainly used as servants or as a distraction.
Gray Bomb: This spell works only works on earht or ground. It causes the area under the target to explode creating a nasty shockwave. Like most spells it's effectiveness varies depending on the caster's will.
Dug Wave: A stronger variation of the Dug Wave spell causes an explosion from the ground under the target which can result in a shockwave that can cause great damage. However this can be used on any type of terrain and is not limited to earth or ground.
Blade Haut: This spell is used to enchant weapons giving them earth energy. The sword or weapon can then shoot shockwaves that travel on the ground toward the target. The waves will change direction if the target moves making them difficult to avoid.
Dug Break: This spell neutralizes all earth energy in an area. It dispels golems and earth spells by temporarily banishing the earth, elemental, Bephis. Shamanist Fire Spells:
Flare Arrow: Chant: "Source of all power Wind which blows to the east Flare Arrow" This spell creates a small arrow of flames that can be fired at the enemy in a single bolt or be split into many little darts. This spell is the weakest attack magic and tends to be the first Shamnist spell people learn when studying magic It can be canceled out by it's magical opposite Freeze Arrow. (Which is just as weak as Flare Arrow)
Flare Lance: A stronger version of Flare Arrow, this spell creates a lance of flames that is bigger then Flare Arrow. It can also be used to burn through objects. Like Flare Arrow this spell can be dispeled by the Icicle Lance spell, which is a stronger version of Freeze Arrow.
Fire Ball: Chant: "Source of all power Light which burns beyond crimson Let thy power gather in my hand Fire Ball" Just as the name implies this spell creates a fire ball that can be thrown at the target resulting in a moderete explosion of flames. (This seems to be one of Lina's favorite spells.) It can be canceled out of it's elemental opposite Freeze Spliter. If two Fire Ball spells ever colide a HUGE explosion will occur resulting in immediate destruction of the surroundings.
Balus Wall: Creates a fire-aligned barrier of protection against attacks. In can also be extended to surround a large area.
Flare Conceal: This is a stronger version of the Balus Wall spell it creates a larger shield around an area or a group of people.
Balus Rod: This is a variation of the Balus Wall spell it concentrates fire energy into a long shaft of magic that can be used as a long rod or whip.
Burst Rondo: The Burst Rondo spell shoots a rapid series of small fire balls. It is capable of dealing many hits in quick succession.
Burst Flare: Chant: "Source of all power Crimson fire burning bright Gather in my hand and become an inferno Burst Flare" This is the fire equivalent to the Shamanist Water spell Vice Freeze. It is the strongest fire spell a normal human can cast. A small ball of fire energy is created then it explodes incinerating an entire area (Up to half a city.) with white hot flames.
Bomb Spread: This spell spreads a flurry of small fire energy balls at a target and hits multiple times in various places.
Blast Bomb: This spell is supposedly the strongest of all the fire magic spells. It creates a large sphere of flame energy that surrounds the caster and extends outward in all directions incinerateing anything it touches. This spell was created by the legendary sorcerer Rei Magnus. This spell is so strong that a normal human would need something to increase their magic power in order to cast it.
Rune Flare: This spell is demonstrated by Lina in the first epiaode of Slayers Try it unleashes multiple missles of fire at the target and hits repeatedly.
Flare Bit: This attack shoots many small fire darts at a target sometimes in the form of rings. This spell is more of an annoyance then a devastaing attack. Each dart has the impact of a punch, but can destory structures or armor if the object is repeatedly hit.
Val Flare: This spell shoots a spiraling arrow of fire that makes a massive explosion when hits an object. It only damages a small region of the object and is used to make holes or passage ways through walls.
Vice Flare: This is a stronger version of Val Flare it is used to make bigger holes through objects and should be used in a confined area. Shamanist Wind Spells:
Diem Wing: The Diem Wing spell creates a strong blast of wind to be shot at the target. This spell is capable of many things it can blow the target backwards, trap them in a wind shield, or propell them in a given direction with greater force.
Mono Bolt: This spell uses the power of thunder to be infused into the caster giving them an electical touch for awhile. In order to damage an enemy with this spell you need to be in close contact in order to touch them.
Digger Bolt: Chant: "Source of all power Wind which sweeps across sky and earth Gather in my hand and give me strength Digger Bolt" The Digger Bolt is a stronger version of Mono Bolt. It causes a strong blast of thunder to radiate from the casters hands electroucuting the target. You do not need to touch the enemy for this spell to deal damage so you can stay at a greater distance from the target.
Bomb di Wind: This spell creates a huge blast of wind to be shot out by the caster and blows all objects in the area it hits around. Lina also uses it to move a sail boat when there's no wind in Slayers Try ep. 2 ^_^
Levitation: With this spell the caster can fly through the air. The only problem is if this spell is used for a very long period of time it can wear the caster out.
Bram Gush: Chant: "Wind which blows across eternity Gather in my hand and become my power Bram Gush" This spell shoots out a bomb or arrow of explosive wind energy.The Bram Gush explodes on impact and can destroy stone objects easily. It can also be split into smaller energy blasts on command to attack many targets.
Ray Wing: This spell can also allow the caster to fly. It creates a wind barrier that lets the caster fly by concentration. The barrier can visible or invisible and can block some attacks.
Windy Shield: Used by Naga in the Slayers Return movie. This creates a huge barrier of wind around a target that can block just about any non magical weapon.
Wind Blitz: This spell shoots a bunch of razor sharp air arrows at an enemy that are very hard to avoid because since they're wind you can't really see them ^_^
Damu Brass: With this spell the caster creates many rays of electricity that when shot at the enemy explode on contact
Diem Claw: This spell is similar to Dim Wing except it creates a whilwind barrier around the caster protecting against projectiles.
Aero Bomb: The Aero Bomb creates a small powerful burst of air around arrows and other projectiles changing their original flight pattern and can also be used to minipulate the flight of projectile weapons sending them back to the attacker.
Scatter Bleed: The Scatter Bleed spell creates many particles of energy that swarm around the target serving as an anoyance.
Dimilar Wind: Using this spell the caster creates a ball of tightly compressed hard air energy that damages an enemy. This is the Air eqivalent to Fire Ball.
Air Valm: This spell creates a shield of air that protects the caster from a few kinds of attacks.
Bram Fang: This spell creates sharp air arrows which can cut through inanimate objects but not living things. Shamanist Water Spells:
Freeze Arrow: This spell creates a small arrow of ice that can be fired at the enemy in a single bolt or be split into many little darts. This spell is capable of freezing targets. It can be canceled out by it's magical opposite Flare Arrow.
Icicle Lance: A stronger version of Freeze Arrow, this spell creates a lance of ice that is bigger then Freeze Arrow. It can also be used to freeze objects solid. Like Freeze Arrow this spell can be dispeled by the Flare Lance spell, which is a stronger version of Flare Arrow.
Vice Freeze: This is the ice equivalent to the Shamanist Fire spell Burst Flare. It is the strongest spell in Shamanist Water magic. A small ball of ice energy is created then it explodes freezing an entire area (Up to half a city.) in thick ice.
Aqua Create: The aqua create spell causes a sudden surge of water to spring up from the ground in the form of a small wall. It's not harmful but it's pressure is strong enought to block flying projectiles.
Sea Blast: This spell is used to create waves or a sudden upward surge of water. The caster has to be actually touching a body of water for this spell to work.
Ly Briem: This spell totally incases the target in a thick sheet of ice. It is especially strong against fire-aligned monsters
Freeze Bullet: This spell shoots a high velocity ice projectile at the target. It can be fired quickly and in rapid succession which can make this spell useful.
Demona Crystal: Chant: "You who dwells between sky and earth Gently flowing water Gather in my hand and give me strength Demona Crystal" This spell summons a freezing mist from the ground that surrounds the caster's hands and on command shoots outward condencing and solidifing into an intense beam of ice that is so cold it incases the target then shatters at room temperature. It can be used to easily break down doors, or walls
Van Rehl: Chant: "Holy Wind Which gently flows across the land Let all things be filled with your pure breath Van Rehl" This spell creates a web of ice magic that can surround the caster or a general area, freezing anything it touches. This spell can also be used offensively and is strong against fire-aligned creatures.
Houl Freeze: With this spell the sorcerer can summon a blizzard to surround them. It doesn't do much damage but is hard to get past.
Freeze Cutter: This spell creates a sharp wave of ice that cuts in an arc-like motion, and is capable of freezing the target
Freeze Spliter: The Freeze Spliter spell creates a ball of freezing ice energy that can be hurled at the target. It is the water magic equivalent to the Fire Ball spell. If both spells come in contact with each other they cancel out.
Freeze Rain: Using this spell the caster creates a small cloud of ice energy that can shoot out icicles like rain. This spell is mostly used to pierce the target instead of freezing it.
Dust Chip: This spell fires a small ice pellet at the enemy. It's more of an annoyance then an attack spell. It can be used to piss people off, and break their concentration.
Swait Frang: The only thing this spell does is create a fog around the caster. The fog doesn't really do anthing except makes the area harder to see.
Dark Mist: The Dark Mist spell summons dark mist (Duh!), and strong winds which emit for the caster and encase the surrounding area, blocking all light.
Aqua Breeze: This spell lets the caster breathe easily underwater. It can last for a few hours before having to be recast and does not need constant concentration to stay in affect. Shamanist Spirit Spells:
Bram Blazer: This spell creates a shockwave of lightning that can be used to hurt an enemy mentally as well as damaging their physical body.
Elemekia Lance: This spell calls power from the great holy priestess Elemekia for power. It creates a lance of spiritual energy. This spell doesn't do any physical damage but get greatly harm a person's spirit. This spell is most usueful against demons and the undead.
Elemekia Flame: Similar in effect to the Elemekia lance this spell also calls forth the power of Elemekia in the form of big rays of light. It's a stronger version of Elemekia lance and can also damage ones spirit.
Goz Flow: The Goz Flow spell summons a shadow from the astral plain to attack enemies or grab hold of the person to bind them in place. This shadow cannot be dispeled by light.
Astral Vine: The astral vine spell calls forth energy from the astral realm to bind to swords or other weapons to make them stronger or sharper so they can cut through objects they normally couldn't. This spell is not permanent and can wear off or be dispeled easily.
Ra Tilt: Chant: "Strength of all souls which dwells between chaos and the infinite Eternal flame of blue Hidden strength that slumbers deep within me I call you forth here and now Ra Tilt" The Ra Tilt is _the_ strongest spell in all shamanist magic. It's as powerful as the dragon slave. By causing a rift or tilt in the astral dimension this spell allows pure spiritual energy to flow through the caster in a huge blue flame utterly DESTROYING a living beings spirit.
Shadow Snap: This spell creates a knife which stabs an enemy's shadow holding it in place. This makes it so the person who's shadow is "caught" unable to move their legs. The spell can be easily dispeled by a light spell or by removing the created knife.
Shadow Web: A stronger version of Shadow Snap this spell extends the caster's shadow outward and as it touchs another person's shadow it freezes them in place. This can affect many opponets at once.
Vis Farank: This spell seems to have been developed by Ameria it creates protective gloves of light around the caster's fists that allow them to punch stronger and deal greater damage to demons.
Illusion: This spell allows the caster to create an illusion and control it mentally. It, however, requires constant concentration in order to keep the illusion.
Search: Chant: "You who sail the seas of the astral plane Reveal these shadows to me" This spell let's you pinpoint the location of the object by using the astral plane to search for it.
Protect: This let's the caster block any magical tracing or trackring from the astral planr on an object.
Felzaraid: This spell created a whirling shaft of spiritual energy that travels in random directions toward the target. Since it's pathway is harder to predict the spell is harder to dodge. It's fairly power can destroy most lower level monsters in a single hit.
Vision: Using this spell the caster can create an image of themself in a different position and can talk through the image. This seems to be every villan's favorite spell. ^_^
Dy Slash: This spell has a similar effect to the Elemekia lance spell but sends out many boomerang shaped energy blasts that are hard to avoid.
Galak Luhard: This spell creates an huge explosion around the caster that damages any object affected both physically and mentally, and can affect a wide area.
