After a few classes, I started to get the hang of where classrooms are, and walking with Haine, he’s a good guide. I’m relieved it’s lunch though. I’ve learned a bit more about Haine and Eoran, too. Haine and Eoran’s family lives together, and their home isn’t that far from mine either. Haine has been like a big brother to Eoran ever since they were little, and Eoran’s insecurity always worries Haine. I wish I had someone like that; my life isn’t exactly a cakewalk. Haine walked in front of Eoran and I as we made our way to the cafeteria. “You could, um, always come over if you want,” Eoran offered. I smiled, “Thanks, maybe I will.” Haine nodded. “Yeah, it’d be awesome to have some friends over for once,” he added. He opened the doors and Eoran and I sat down at one of the tables, while Haine went to get our lunches. Eoran rested his head on the table, and I rested my head on the palm of my hand. Shortly, Haine came back with our lunches. He took a seat next to Eoran and put the food down on the table. Eoran lifted his head up and yawned. “So….” I said, trying to start a conversation. I glanced around. The room was so crowded. “I’m happy this school doesn’t have a dress code,” Haine said. “Hm?” I looked at him. “I hate uniforms.” He shrugged his shoulders and took a bite out of his pizza. A familiar girl walked up from behind Hain. “There you are! Geesh, I’ve been looking all over for you!” she said. Haine sighed and turned around. “You were the one chasing me, so don’t blame me,” he answered back, sticking his tongue out at her. “Uurg!” She was about to whack him on the head when she noticed me. “Hey, Melissa, didn’t know you were there. I’m guessing you met these two?” she asked. I nodded, “So he’s your brother I’m guessing?” Katie nodded. “Yup. My younger brother,” she whacked him on the head, “and my younger cousin. Geesh, you should be more like Eoran here. He never causes trouble.” Haine rolled his eyes and rubbed his head. “Whatever,” he mumbled. “A-are you okay, cousin?” Eoran asked. “Never been better,” Haine replied. “Well, you look after these two,” Katie said to me before walking off. I sighed. “I see you’re one big happy family,” I said. “Right,” Haine said, still rubbing his head. “She hits hard, I think…” Eoran said. Haine nodded, “She does.” Eoran went back to eating his lunch, and I did the same.

I can’t wait until school today is over. I’ve already managed to survive almost all of the day’s classes, just one more to go. I picked up my bookbag and slung it over my shoulder. I headed out of the room, Eoran walking next to me and Haine leading the way. “What’s next class?” Eoran asked me. “Phys. Ed,” I replied. He nodded, and Haine flipped around. “I hope we don’t sit around going through introductions. The whole day was like that today,” he said. “Yeah, and the science teacher s-scares me…” Eoran said. I shrugged my shoulders and continued down the hall with them when we came to a stop. A group of seniors stopped in front of us, and all of them were smirking. “Look what we have here; a boy with weird eyes, a boy who looks like a girl, and a girl who’s actually walking with these losers,” one of them said. He had short-cut brown hair and was wearing a green T-shirt and dark green pants. Geesh, could this kid be any more green? Eoran bit his lip and Haine glared at him. “Get lost,” I said to them, “We’re not looking for a fight.” He laughed, “Why defend these two, newbie? Besides, I can do whatever I want. As you can see, I am way taller than you and I could easily crush your bones.” I gritted my teeth. “Let’s go,” I mumbled. Haine shook his head. “I know how to handle the stupid,” he said. “What?!” the green senior exclaimed. Haine stuck his tongue out at them and put his hands in his pockets, pulling out a pair of gloves. “How’s that going to help you escape from death?” the senior shouted. Haine slipped on the gloves and clapped his hands together and then pressed them against the lockers on the side of the halls. The seniors looked in shock as light flashed and the lockers turned into a huge metal ball. “Time to knock out the pins,” Haine said. He tapped the ball and it had a direct hit on the seniors, knocking them down. I laughed and Eoran sighed. “He’s always doing that one…” he said. Haine pretended to dust his hands off and he put the gloves back into his pockets. He then walked back over to us. “Let’s go,” he said. We nodded and followed him to the gym.

“I didn’t know you could do alchemy,” I said to Haine as we sat on one of the benches; class isn’t starting for a couple of minutes. “You never asked,” he replied. I rolled my eyes, “Whatever. Just thought it was interesting,” I said. He looked at me. “You think that’s interesting? Heh, you should see my dad. He’s an alchemy genius,” he said. “Really. That’s nice to know,” I replied. Eoran walked over to us. “I’m back…” he said nervously as he sat down. I patted him on the back, “Relax,” I said. The coach ordered him to tie his hair into a ponytail, and he wasn’t exactly that comfortable with the decision. Haine laughed, “See? It’s not a big deal. Look at me; I wear them all the time,” he said. “Y-yeah but still…” Eoran said. I sighed; he is way too paranoid. “Yeah, you look more like a…guy…I’m sorry, I just had to say that!” I said, trying to hold back my laughter. Eoran bit his lip. “I’m sorry, I have to agree with her,” Haine said with a sigh. “Not funny,” Eoran said, rolling his eyes. The coach yelled out, “Gather ‘round, maggots!” We got up and walked over to the coach along with the others in the class. “I see he’s in a pleasant mood…” I mumbled. I folded my arms across my chest. “Just an announcement before we start, the school’s going to have a soccer team again. So if you want to join, sign up. Okay, as for a warm up, give me five laps! Now!” I sighed and started running like the rest of the kids. “Well someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed…” Haine said to me. “Tell me about it,” I replied. “So, are you going to sign up for the soccer team thing?” he asked me. “Probably not,” I said. I never really took part in sports teams. I would sometimes play a bit with my dad, but that was before. “Oh, I probably will. I heard this school holds a special type of soccer,” Haine said. “Oh really? Tell me,” I said. “My sis’ told me that they incorporate alchemy in it. I’ve been wanting to take a crack at it for a while,” he explained. “Soccer with alchemy? That’s original,” I said. I never heard of sports that had anything to do with alchemy before. “Maybe I’ll consider it,” I said thoughtfully. It did sound a bit interesting. After quickly finishing the five laps, the coach made us play a basketball game. I’ve always sucked at basketball. When my team was off, I watched the other teams play with Eoran. He could actually play good if he wanted to, which surprised me. Haine was pretty good too, but he had a habit of using alchemy to his advantage. Eoran told me that once, Haine actually got himself kicked out of a game for using alchemy to cover up the basket. I found that hilarious. When I think about it, I’m surprised I’ve never met the two before. After all, they sound like they live pretty close to me, and it would be hard to miss one boy with different colored eyes and another who looks kind of like a girl.
