There, shines Perseus
oblivious to all
but his own desires
who stands before her, blindly
and strikes it down
with laughter upon his face
Medusa lies spread
beneath him
recoiling with
arms outstretched
as if to shield her face
from him
And yet
Her gaze is loving
though he cannot see
And her arms
reach for him
as much as they shield
If she could plead
I'm sure she'd ask
for death
by the hand of love
rather than
eternal existence
surrounded by
mere images
of human life.
