Chapter two
“Shangri-la was a land of peace and beauty, with lush green open fields, thick leafy forests, snow toped mountains, sparkling crystal oceans… a pure paradise where creatures of many different kinds lived side by side. All under the rule of the mystical and benevolent Tenshi.
Many years before the Tenshi’s appearance the land was ravished by war. The Vampire’s believed they where the superior race and deserved to rule the lands, where as the werewolves believed they where just as good as the vampire’s. The elves believed the land did not need a ruler, while the demon truly didn’t care as long as they where not involved.
Not many remember the day the Tenshi appeared. Some thought he descended from the heaven in a flash of light, while others say he flew in on his six beautiful pure white wings and commanded the fighting to be stopped.
But the truth was… he had lived within Shangri-La all his life, raised by a convent of sorcerer’s that lived high up in the mountains. Where he was taught to use his white magic wisely and never for selfish reasons. So when he had heard of the fighting that was fought far below the sanctuary he lived, he spread his six powerful wings and flew down the mountain.
Upon reaching the battlefield. He cast a spell of seeing upon the fighters, showing them the destruction they had caused throughout the land. The spell allowed them to see the future the fighting would bring upon Shangri-la. A future were the land was dieing and crumbling away, were nothing seized to live only death awaited. Thus bringing the war to an end.
After that he was crowned as the one and only ruler of Shangri-La. With a court council made up of one member from each race. And as his first act as ruler, he helped re-establish the towns and kingdom within the lands.
And after many years of rule, he chose to leave the land of Shangri-La with only a prophecy of another more stronger being to take his place.”
“That is the most gayest thing I’ve ever hear”
Syrus’s head shot up to stare at his blonde friend with a hurt look in his eyes. The other two boys stared at Kain with angry looks.
“What?” the blonde shrugged “its true, I’m just telling it like it is” he said waving it off like it was nothing.
“Kain! How can you be so insensitive?” the petite raven-haired ask.
“Um…. Maybe because I’m not GAY!”
“So, you still don’t have to be mean about it. Syrus has treasured that story every since he was little. Right Sy’?” Talyn turn to look at his friend who was now hugging the red leather book to his chest.
“Ah, yeah” he nodded.
A look of concern crossed Talyn’s face as he studied his crush’s change in attitude.
“You okay Sy’?” Myke piped up from his position on the lounge floor. Only to get a short quick nod from the silver-haired teen.
Kain stood from his spot to stand next to the sulking teen. “Come on Sy’ does it truly upset you?”
Syrus stood up and glared at the blond from behind his bangs, he shoved Kain out of his way before storming out of the lounge.
“Hey!” Kain yelped as a blue pillow hit him on the head.
“That’s for upsetting Syrus!” Talyn argued back staring hard at the blonde.
Kain rolled his eyes and snorted “please”
While Myke shook his head at the two and followed Syrus down the hall in hopes of comforting the silver-hair teen. Coming to the closed bed room door, he knocked as he called out softly “Sy’ its me Myke, can I come in?”
“No” came the reply from the other side of the door.
“Syrus please… I don’t like it when you’re like this, just please open the door” the brunette tried to reason with his upset friend. But was answered with silence.
“Myke… is he okay?” Talyn asked softly from behind his taller friend with a worried expression.
That’s when all three boys heard a loud thud from inside the room. “Syrus!” they said in unison and rushed to get the door open so they could help their silver-haired friend.
“I’ll go try the bathroom door” Talyn yield as he raced down the hall and into the bathroom, through the door connecting to Syrus’s room. Only to stop die at the site of is friend lying on the floor unconscious. “Sy!” sliped from his lips as to went forward to check if the boy was still breathing. Once he was positive he was okay, he opened the door so that Myke could lift the silver-haired teen up onto he bed. While as Kain raced down the stair to call Sylvia.
“What happened?” the blonde woman asked as she strode into the room, worried for her only son.
“We don’t know Ms. Livana, he got upset with Kain and locked himself the room. And then he collapsed.”
As Sylvia stepped up to rest her hand on her sons forehead she noticed something the others boys didn’t. A single white feather was lying right by Syrus’s left shoulder. Taking a calm deep breath she turned to the boys and told them that Syrus had not been feeling very well lately and that they should leave to let him rest.
In understanding the three-boys left quietly with a wish that their friend would get better.
Once the three boys where gone, Sylvia dropped to her knees next to her sons bed. A few tears traveled a path down her cheeks. “I knew this would happen… but I didn’t expect it to be this soon” she whispered softly as she reached out and stroke her sons cheek with the back of her fingers “oh Seth, I’m not ready for my baby boy to leave”
A hand touched her shoulder as the person now standing behind her spoke “I’m sorry Sylvia. But a new Tenshi is needed within Shangri-La” the kneeling woman turned to look at her husband as he stood there in white pants, a light blue strapped top covered with a white trench coat. His hair was much like their sons but only longer and a darker shade of silver. And to top off his look was his six beautiful white wing protruding from his back.
“Seth” she whispered as she stood and threw her arms around his neck and cried, “I don’t want to loose him”
The Tenshi wrapped his arms around his wife’s waist and held her as she cried. “You wont loose him, my love” he started to rub circles on her back as he comforted her. “He will return once his duty as my successor is fore filled.”
“But what if he gets hurt? Or something happens? Or…or”
“Shh… my love” he said as he place a finger upon her lips “I will be watching over him, and should anything happen I will interfere and protect him” he placed a soft and gentle kiss upon her forehead and stepped back. Untangling himself from her grip. “It’s time to say goodbye my love,” he instructed as he turned to pick up the red leather book that was left lying on the floor.
Sylvia turned to face the bed to look upon her sons face for one last time. In doing so a few more tears spilt from her eyes. Wiping them away she leant down and placed a kiss on his forehead, much like her husband had to her. “Goodbye my baby. I will always love you. Just please come back to me safely” with one last brush of his beautiful silver bangs, she stepped back to give Seth room to lay the book on the sleeping teens chest.
“Goodbye Sylvia and thank you” he whispered to her as he lifted the pendent and placed it within the lock on the book. A bright light erupted from the book that forced the blond on looker to close her eyes. When she finally opened them again, both her husband and son was gone. Leaving her to cry in an empty house.
