Chapter One
“Welcome to the Hearts Desires bookstore. How may I help you today” came the cheery voice of the blonde haired woman standing behind the counter.
“Hey, its just us Ms. Livana” replied one of the three boys that just entered the bookshop.
Sylvia Livana looked up at the three standing at the door. The first boy was Myke. He had short dark brown hair that was spiked in different directions. His face was slim yet held enough masculine that prevented him from looking too feminine. His eyes were the rich color of chocolate with long thick black eyelashes to frame them. His body was fit and well shaped from all the long hours spent on the soccer field. His cloths consisted of loose medium blue jeans, a black T-shirt with a red flame design up the left side and his feet were enclosed in black addidas sneakers.
Next to him stood Kain. He had shoulder length sandy blond hair that was pulled back in a low pony. His face still had some of its baby fat that made him look a lot younger then he was. His eyes were crystal blue in colour and were frame with light eyelashes, a sign that he was a natural blond. His body was fit and slender under his black jeans and red button down shirt.
The third boy was Talyn. He had waist length raven black hair, which was pulled back in a loose braid. He was the most feminine looking out of the other two and was often mistaken for a girl. His eyes were a beautiful jade colour that was framed with thick black lashes. His body was slime and slender with curves much like a woman’s. He was dressed in dark blue jeans and a singlet with green strip up the sides.
“Hello boys” Sylvia said smiling at the three. “Syrus should be up stairs, I’m sure he’s found something exciting to show you”
The blonde haired boy snorted and mumbled something along the lines of ‘what a nerd’ which rewarded him with an elbow to the ribs from Talyn.
Laughing Sylvia ushered the boys up stairs, so she could return to checking stock sheets.
The Hearts Desires was the bookstore Sylvia Livana owned. The two-story building was set out with the ground level as an open area with rows of shelves separated into different genera’s. The front desk was located by the door, blocking off the entrance to the kitchen, laundry and stairs. On the upper level was the living area with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a lounge and a study.
“Oi Syrus! Where are ya?” Myke hollered as the three of them stepped into the lounge.
“I’m in the study!” came Syrus’s silky smooth voice.
Talyn grinned as he pushed past the others with excitement and hurried down the hall to the study.
“f**” mumbled the blond as he followed suit of the raven-haired teen.
Myke just shook his head, not bothering to say anything about the blond’s crude remarks to his friend.
It was their last year of high school when Talyn confessed to being gay and that he had a crush on Syrus. But as fate would have it Syrus did not return his feeling. Things were awkward for a couple of months after that, until the boys decide that they could live with Talyn’s sexuality choice and Syrus apologies for not being able to return his feelings. Though Kain still seemed to like teasing him about his sexuality.
Talyn bounced into the study to find Syrus sitting hunched over the desk staring at a closed red leather hard covered book. He took his time to take in the sight of the teen’s odd silver locks. His bangs hung down over his face as the back was cut short. His skin was the perfect shade of pale that it did not make him look sickly. His mildly muscled body was clothed in dark jeans with a blue shirt that had red rimming. On his feet he wore plain white cotton socks and around his neck was a silver chain the held the eerie yet beautiful pendent his father had given him when he was younger.
“Like what you see?”
Snapping out of his musing he saw that Syrus had now turned is attention on to him. Blushing furiously the raven haired teen turned away from Syrus’s beautiful emerald eyes in embarrassment from being caught checking him out.
It was at that time that Kain made himself know by laughing out loud, and proceed to making fun of the petit teen. Thus starting a squabble between the two.
Myke rolled his eyes as he walked past them to stand next to Syrus. “I hate it when they fight”
The silver haired teen just laughed “that’s just their way of showing that they care for each other.”
“Hmm…. I suppose your right.” Myke nod in agreement.
“Haha…. Aren’t I always right?” the seated teen turned to look up at his friend. “So how have you been? I heard your team got into the finals. Congrats” he said with a grin.
Myke chuckled “ a little over confident aren’t we. But I’ve been fine. Thanks, I’ll be leaving in a week. I’m just hoping we’ll win that match too.”
“Ow! Kain, you didn’t have to hit me that hard!”
“Yea well you shouldn’t have hit me in the first place”
“Well you shouldn’t have called me a f**”
“Well you shouldn’t Have-“
“Enough!” Myke yelled, “do you guys have to fight every time we’re around Syrus?”
Kain snorted “yea… we do, cause Talyn can’t keep his gay eyes off Syrus. And I find unrequited love very funny.
Syrus looked over at the petit teen and gave a small sigh of pity at the hurt look on his face. “Kain, knock it off. You’ve really gone and hurt his feelings.”
As Kain turned to look at Talyn, Syrus stood and walked over to the pouting boy. Stopping only inches away from him. Up close he saw that Talyn had a rosy tint to his cheeks, smiling Syrus lent forward and pressed his lips to Talyn’s in short chaste kiss. “I think your growing on me,” he whispered as he pulled away.
To say the least Myke, Kain and even Talyn were shocked at the silver haired teens bold move.
“You…. You just… just-”
“Kissed him. You got a problem with me showing him some affection?” Syrus pinned the blond with an angry glare. Kain shook his head and mumble a weak ‘no’. Myke just grinned at Syrus showing he had no problem with his actions, where as Talyn just stared at the floor with bright red cheeks. “Good. Because I wanted to show you guys this” he went back to the desk and held up the red leather hardcover book, with a strange silver lock. “I found it amongst my dads stuff in the storage room.”
“What’s so special about it?” asked Kain.
“Well it’s the same book my father would describe to me in the stories about the Tenshi and the land called Shangri-La.” Explained Syrus, as he looked hopeful at his friends for them to believe him.
“Okay,” Myke held up his hand “now you’re confusing me. First of all, what is a Tenshi? And how does that book fit into the equation?”
“Oh right, you guys have never heard my fathers stories have you?” the three teens shook there heads. “Then I guess I should tell you one. It will be a lot easier for you guys to understand what I’m talking about.” Syrus rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. “Perhaps we should go sit in the lounge, it will be more comfortable for you guys there.” With that Syrus turned and lead his friends into the lounge to tell them his fravourite story told to him by his father.
