Personality ⇛
Narcissistic • Belligerent • Puerile • Coward • Ambitious
✖ Narcissistic ;; To say that he’s inordinately interested or full of himself is highly underestimating this young man’s capacity to self-love; or rather his innate ability to love the image of himself as he portrays to others. In short he adores what he has molded himself into. Self-centered as can be you could just as well label him arrogant, though narcissism covers a larger portion of his characteristics. It isn’t a rare moment to find Langston in front of a mirror, admiring him self. This is only a glimpse into the hours he spends naked before a full length mirror in the privacy of his own room. He knows his own importance, or more importantly how much more important he is than a certain pretty cousin. He’s determined to make other people see his importance as well and is constantly trying to prove just how grand he really is. What could possibly sent him into such a mess? Perhaps mommy, daddy issues have something to do with his current predicament? It isn’t unheard of for a child to look inward for love and nourishment when it isn’t abundant elsewhere. Or perhaps it isn’t others he is trying to convince of his importance, but himself?
✖ Belligerent ;; So, at some point in his life the testosterone started pumping and never stopped. Apart from being beefy and slightly more bulky than his father before him, Langston is highly aggressive. Even in the simplest, peaceful instances he can be very forward. This would be confirmed by the Temper, who knows Langston’s pushy ways only all too well. Those who have daily contact with him know just as well as those who have a chance meeting with the young man that hostility is no stranger to him. Unprovoked he can snap in an instance; a simple misleading word, a context he doesn’t quit like, invasion of his personal space and many more seemingly innocent instances can rile the young gang thug. Vigorously energetic and bold he won’t hesitate to quarrel…so long as he thinks he can win. Quite honestly it’s the fault of others he’s so prone to hostility, for if they were not so easily intimidated Langston would be less inclined to take the warpath so frequently. Strangely enough the same qualities that make him violent also make him charming to an extent. Bold, assertive, confident; all three are qualities found in a typically good leader.
✖ Puerile ;; A great deal of how Langston is revolves around the fact that he’s Childish. Selfish and rude only begin to describe how horribly underdeveloped his social skills are. The whole “Sharing is caring” parents teach to their children never quite made it through his think skull. Some of his outlandish behavior can be quite aggravating and tiresome, even more so to the fact he hardly gives a hell how he treats other people. It isn’t particularly hard to see these aspects of the “childish” quality Langston never seemed to rid him self of, but it isn’t the depth of things. Apart from the demeaning attributes to being called childish he also incorporates the opposite to which the title entails. Langston, so accurately labeled the Rebel, is very lively. Full of energy and spirited he’s hardly the type of individual to simply sit around and do nothing for long. Just like any active and imaginative mind he’s learned to be quite creative, even creative in the ways of being creative. The single most astounding thing about this “inner” self is how passionate he can be in what he does. The Temper knows first hand exactly how passionate the Rebel is, for even if he has his sights set on Sunshine he was particularly attentive to the Temper, with her wants and needs, within their relationship.
✖ Coward ;; To get one thing straight, the guy isn’t brave; he’s stupid. Generally speaking he isn’t ignorant, but a good rush of testosterone and all common sense is out the window. Though he isn’t spineless he is gutless. What’s the difference, you may ask? If the young man in question were spineless he wouldn’t have any willpower and he has an over abundant supply of that in most cases. However he is gutless, meaning he’s not a very courageous individual by a long shot. The type of courage he lacks does not include brawn or willpower, but something on a much simpler scale and basis. Danger isn’t his opposition, difficult situations and pain, however, are. Not others’ pain, mind you, just his own. He’s too self-centered to care about another’s feelings, let alone what kind of physical damage is being dealt to them. Those difficult situations are nothing more than getting in the way of himself. A prime example would be his inability to confess to Dear Sunshine how he actually feels towards her. Also, a well kept secret thus far, he is a bit squeamish around blood. Although he won’t pass out, it makes his stomach turn; sickens him.
✖ Ambitious ;; All in all this is a full circle of contradiction to his coward some ways. Whilst he does little in the efforts to obtain something as simple as a crush, or love interest, he does not have issues in striving for power. In all honesty he’s a greedy little b*****d and it shows vividly through his past achievements and current aspirations. Such strong desire and determination only add to the accumulative leadership skills that seem to run in the family. The promise of power, honor, fame and respect push him forward towards his goals. Not so much courageous as just greedy and self-righteous; aspects of the need for achievement etched into his brain.
Specialties ⇛ Deception and false perception are key in the business he’s grown up with his entire life, thus the reason he possesses skills in such shady areas. Lying through his teeth on a daily basis creates a sort of deception all on its own. Langston is almost a compulsive liar at this point in his life, spouting bullshit everywhere he goes. A second nature to him now that he’s used to pass polygraph tests on multiple occasions. If asked a question and a response is immediately given, the answer is usually bogus. He has a way of creating a very believable illusion with his lies.
“The secret’s in the confidence.”
Hand-to-Hand Combat. Or, more effectively, a good a** kicking. Langston doesn’t fight by any technical means, no set standard, no style or teaching. He’s very well rounded in the “in the moment” sense of things. While he hasn’t taken any classes he has plenty of experience in fighting. What rebel child wouldn’t? Over the years he’s acquired the ability to almost predict movements in his opponents. It would be ridiculous for him to know what the enemy was going to do before they did it, but he’s a good judge of body language.
“The body gives away more than you know, or that you think you know.”
The quicker the individual he’s up against, the harder it is for him to judge how the person uses their combatant skills. As is the slower the individual the easier for him to judge and counter. He isn’t exactly light on his feet himself, but he knows better than to lag behind too much. Dodge and counter method isn’t his specialty, but as said before he’s a well rounded fighter so long as there’s not a gun or a knife in the picture. Guns can cause problems if you can’t knock them out of the picture quick enough and knives draw blood. For Langston, this is his Achilles heel.
Love interest ⇛ If Langston could sum up little miss sunshine in one word it would be voluptuous. Gina is, quite simply, the most elegant woman he’s ever seen. She tickles his curiosity and delights his senses with her mere presence. Long, milky blonde locks, big beautiful brown eyes, luscious lips and an adorable nose to boot, toped off with her silky pale skin and delicate appearance; she’s slowly become his quiet obsession. Though he’s still possessive, more protectively so, of the Temper his mind and interests have been captivated by the sweet girl with a beautiful smile.
Family History ⇛ “What can I say? My family is the reason you watch your back at night in those dark alleys, why you never go anywhere alone after dark and we can’t forget the reasons you double check your doors at night. We’re the full blown adult rated version of your childhood nightmares; the boogieman isn’t so fictional after all, eh?”
Lothario Giordano meets Aaltie Buskrik, Italian Mafia meets Dutch Netherlands; nothing like your Romeo and Juliet. Two powerful families brought together out of nothing more than the simplicity of the upper class. He was into drug trafficking and she a part of a drowning name in the city of lights. A shady business deal; the Buskriks were financially crippled, yet they could supply the Giordanos with surface cover. Any chance to keep authorities off the gang’s trail was a welcomed aspect, to which the Giordanos took in healthy portions. The Buskriks family had stature within the “civilized” community of New York. They were a respectable family that simply had a run in with lady misfortune one too many times. Misfortune for some was a blessing for others, a sad truth that would linger in the family for years to come.
The two would be married for four years before they had a child together, even that aspect of their lives had been for appearances. Love running only skin deep the couple brought their first child into the world during spring; May to be exact, just outside of Manhattan. By that point in time Lothario’s elder brother already had a son, an heir to the family business so to speak. Lothario had little interest in his family, putting his all into the legacy of his forefathers and the survival of the gang. His daughter, on the other hand, would become his pride and joy.
The family is still intact, if only for appearances, living out their lives fairly well on their own. Mother and father are still bound in “holy” matrimony even if they don’t share the same bed.
Biography ⇛ “There really isn’t much to tell you, besides the fact that mom and dad were completely bogus. I’m not entirely sure I can rightfully call them mom and dad, as little as they were evolved in my life. That’s alright though, I kind of like the fact I never had to deal with over-bearing parents. I have to admit though, until I was about...oh, six? I barely knew what my mother’s face looked like. Not that dad was much better, called me his annoying little shadow. Heh, nothing like pestering that old man all day; he would get so angry at me for no reason. Funny as hell is what that was.”
At the age of twelve, Langston suffered a severe concussion along with multiple broken and fractured bones. He’d been hit by a drunk driver, or so said the police report that admitted him into the hospital for treatment. The factual information is sketchy at best, but rumor has it that the “accident” had been the repercussions of a drug deal gone sour. The details weren’t ever really ironed out; though that could have been due to the fact his father never pressed the issue. Nor did his beloved father come to see him in the hospital, not to mention his lovely wife. The whole ordeal left him with a soft spot on his skull.
School was a playground and nothing much more. Langston him self hardly paid attention during class and year after year he barely scrapped by with D’s and the occasional C to mark his report cards. He got along fairly well with most boys his age, doing what boys do best and pestering the hell out of little girls and supervisors alike. Though once Junior High started things began to change and childish taunting became violent fist fights. Many of the fights he got himself in were over his sister, he didn’t quite like people—like him self—treating her horribly. This only worsened as the two became older and his buddies began to use his little sister like some sort of object.
The other epicenter of his anger came from his family. No, not just his immediate family, but extended as well; a combination of his father and elder cousin. While his younger sister, Catarina, received praise and glory from their father Langston only heard praise for his cousin. Julian, the eldest male child in the extended family, was perfect. Unlike Langston, Julian could do no wrong. Things such as, “Julian’s such a good boy, such a shame mine isn’t more like him,” weren’t uncommon to be overheard or said within perfectly good hearing range of the “mine” in question. It was obvious how his father treated Julian like his own and the fact that Julian had always had permission to boss Langston around never made him sugar sweet to the boy either.
Being the kind of boy he was Langston saw his predicament as yet another way to get under his parent’s skin. Disobeying every instruction given to him gave him more attention than doing what he’d been told. The more unethical he became, the more eyes he drew to his presence. This would play a major role in his dating of the Temper; which started out merely as a way to upset his family and the lot of the gang. It would simply be the gate to a more meaningful relationship; the first and quite possibly the last in the young man’s life.
Presently Langston has his sights set on his “copy cat” of a cousin. Ever since Pretty Boy’s marriage he’s been quite the irritable man, seeing his cousin as taunting him. “Anything you can do I can do better.” The line came to mind the moment the marriage was set.
“Dating a rival gang member has been technically thrown overboard by marrying one.”
Besides pretty much being his cousin’s thug, Langston has plans of his own. What the future holds for the gang is up to Pretty Boy, but Langston hopes to soon change that little aspect of things. What better way to show his father wrong? What better way to get back at the fool who had it all than to over throw him?
