#7- Talk With Oniisan
I heard footsteps running hastily up the stairs. The door to my room swung open with full force. I looked up from my cupped hands to see Ichiro standing at the door, holding the door knob, panting lightly. He stared at me with a concerned look. I stared back at him, not making a sound.
"Ayumi..." he started, his voice shaking slightly, "I heard you scream. What the hell are you doing?" I kept staring at him as he let go of the doorknob and walked towards me.
"I.." I tried to say but my voice came out a small croak. He walked past my desk and sat on my bed, facing me. I kept looking at him, biting my lips.
"Ayumi, tell me," he said, putting a hand on my knee, "You know you can tell me anything."
I looked into his deep brown eyes. He stared back, studying my face. The look he gave me always made me want to talk to him. We stared at each other for a few seconds. I finally found the guts to speak.
"I... I keep..." I whispered.
Ichiro gave me a questioning look. "What?"
I breathed in deeply and let the breath out.
"I-I keep having visions," I said, my voice shaking, "Weird visions."
What kind of visions?" Ichiro asked me with a concerned voice like he already understood the part I said about the visions.
"Lights... Lots of lights. They're everywhere," I said blankly. Ichiro nodded calmly. "First, I had this strange dream when I fell asleep in class today."
I noticed Ichiro smiling a little when I told him the the falling asleep in class part. I made a face at him.
"Sorry. I never thought you would do something like that," He said, smiling a little more, "Keep talking Yumiko-chan."
I rolled my eyes and continued talking.
"The dream was so strange and so clear to me. I could remember every detail." I said. I told him everything I saw in my dream, including The Brightness and falling into the darkness. I told him about me blacking out and having another vision and hearing the voices on the living room floor. I also told him about the vision I just had a while ago.
"Is that why you screamed?" he asked. I nodded solemnly and closed my eyes, burrying my face in my hands again.
"Hey, hey." He said, pulling my hands off my face, "That causes pimples."
I smiled at him and pulled my hands out of his grasp. I slouched back down in my chair.
"I just don't know what it means." I groaned.
Ichiro thought for a while. Then he smiled at me.
"It could be a sign," he said, excitedly, "Someone's sending you a sign."
I stared at him, amused. "What kind of sign?" I played along, smiling.
"Well," he thought for a bit, "Like... someone wants you."
I jumped onto the bed with him and sat cross-legged across him. He sat onto the bed aswell and crossed his legs to face me. We used to do this so much when we were younger. He'd always talk to me like this. I felt better already.
"Someone needs you to..." he thought, "...do something for them!"
I laughed out loud. He smiled, seeing me laugh.
"Gosh, I remember how we used to do this when we were little," I said, "You'd always tickle me until I laughed."
"I still can!" he chuckled playfully as he reached his hands out.
I squeaked as he reached to tickle me in the ribs.
I squealed and collapsed as he did, squirming around on the sheets. I laughed.
"Ah ha!" he declared, pulling back.
I sat back up on the bed, rubbing my eyes and looked at him in the eyes.
"Don't scare me again, Yumiko-chan." He said.
"Thanks, Oniisan." I said quietly, nodding. He grinned and put his hand on my head, shaking it, messed up my short hair.
"Anytime."
