#6- The Second Flash
"Hey! Anyone home?" came a familiar voice from the front door.
I was in the dining room, having dinner with Mom. I turned my head towards the voice and a grin stretched on my face. Ichiro was home.
"We're eating!" called my mom, "hurry up and get here before yours becomes cold!"
Ichiro appeared at the dining room door, smiling and coming in. He slumped down lazily in a chair beside me and Mom, exhaling with a groan. He looked down at his dinner plate.
"Oh, curry. My favourite," he said, teasingly but playfully, "I bet Yumiko-chan made it because it's all green and stuff."
I made an annoyed face at him. He just chuckled and picked up his chopsticks.
"How was work?" Mom asked Ichiro as she took a sip of water.
"The boss made us all do an extra page of the project we're working on. Graphic designing isn't all that easy." he replied, stuffing his mouth with rice.
Mom turned to me. "How was school for you, Ayumi?"
I bit my lip. I didn't want to tell her about me falling asleep in class nor the dream and vision I had. That would probably blow her mind and make me take physco classes.
"I-it was fine, all the usual." I lied.
Ichiro paused from his meal and looked up, giving me the stare. I looked away from him innocently.
We chatted more about work and daily stuff throughout dinner. It was mostly Ichiro jammering on about how much is boss hates him. Nothing ever slipped out of Mom's mouth about Dad.
After dinner, Ichiro helped mom in the kitchen by washing the dishes while I headed back up into my room to finish off the rest of my homework.
It was just past seven thirty as I got to my room and sat down on my chair, wheeling it around to face my desk. I glared at my homework lying on the table, snarling at it. It was so flat, lying on the desk. I kept staring at it, not thinking about anything anymore. I stared a little too long and suddenly, another image flashed in my head. It came so quickly and suddenly I couldn't do anything to stop it.
A feather. A single white feather. It floated down from the huge white canvass of a sky. When it landed on the ground, an enormous bright white flash broke out of it and made my mind go completely white with light. I screamed loudly and piercingly.
Suddenly, the image vanished and I was in my room, breathing heavily. It was all silent again. I looked around, with wide eyes. It was gone. I sighed heavily and buried my face in my hands. It cant be. They were back.
