Autumn The living world is dieing on me again. gonk Last year it came as much of a shock as it did the many years ago when I experienced my very first autumn after coming from the Tropics. I thought I had gone to the Land of the Dead. But, no, I came to the "Mediterranean Climate" and Dr. Scott Zona, the world's most eminent Palm biologist today, was jealous that I was going to that Biotope!!!! To his beloved UC Berkeley. You lied, Scott. How can it be "Mediterranean"? How can it be that a large number of trees die here, abscissing their leaves and letting their branches hang around naked? No one told me that palms and deciduous trees lived side by side. scream I HATE IT. exclaim
