Being confused human beings as we are, some started defining reality themselves. They deemed everything that we experience through our five senses as real. Our senses cannot deceive us, they say. The universe is real, what is around us is real, they exist. We, as human beings, exist materialistically in this world. Otherwise, how can we explain how our receptors tell us about our senses? We feel pain when we touch something hot. If that is not real, why do we feel it? Common sense realists feel that everything can be explained through this theory--that everything we experience with our five senses are real, without question. Again, how does one explain hallucinations and delirium?
