Said simply, Gaian inflation goes up way too fast. I saved up for a year to buy a Coco Plushie, for just over 83k when I bought it (no joke, this was about a year ago this November). Then I was hacked, and it was stolen. I had to quest and plead and beg and spend countless hours bumping and polling in the forums, simply because in one month Coco prices had jumped to over 100k.

It's completely true.

NOW the price of a Coco is about 250k and climbing. I am still questing for multiple ‘good’ items that I love the look of, but cannot afford because I have a mere 8k gold. That's right. 8k. Because I was questing for a Chyaku Norisu scarf. For over a year. Because of inflation. And those ‘good’ marketplace items still fly up in price the same way they did before, only now 2% of MY hard-earned money is disappearing into the ether.

Why did Gaia instate that 2% tax? It deters inflation about as well as a wet paper towel deters a marching army. Vendors just jack up their prices to accommodate the tax and still get the amount of gold they want. All it does it steal money from the BUYER, and it doesn’t go anywhere. It just disappears.
I would have been MUCH happier with the tax had it been routed to something good. I don’t actually have an idea why there needed to be a tax in the first place. This was BEFORE the Cash Shop (and I have some words about THAT later).

Also, the polls used to give out a uniform 10 gold per poll. Now, after 2 polls, you're more likely to get 2 gold, not ten. Pollwhoring has become useless. Posting in the forums used to give you a uniform 15-30 gold. Now, you're lucky to get 3 gold per post.

Now, it seems the admins wish to make everyone on Gaia scramble for gold like starving dogs for steak. They've put items in the shops that are, at their lowest 3500 gold. The space items, the sports items? HUGE shop updates, but also hugely expensive. How are RAVER goggles less expensive than a baseball shirt? Gaia, come on. Adjust your prices to be REASONABLE. They’ll be like that for a LONG time, and I don’t think that in 5 months, Suzie Q Public is going to like paying 5k for a tennis dress any more than she does now (which is not at all). I like getting many colors of the same item, in case I want it for an outfit later. However, with all these expensive items, I can only buy one or a few at a time. Remember the French Courtier items? I would still love to get at least a few items out of that set, but sadly, I couldn't do so without outrageously huge amounts of gold. And most likely, I would buy ‘cheaper’ items off of the marketplace before I bought those items, as jacked up as the prices in the marketplace are.

The obtaining of gold on Gaia was already a problem, and the admins are only making it worse every time they send out new evolving items or unnecessarily expensive shop updates. Expect another post soon.
