It seems the answer to winning at Spore wasn't as far off as I had thought it was. Infact, it is actually something quite simple. It's the philosophy that they had ingrained into you since first growing legs. Some people don't want to be your friends, and no matter how hard you try, will never want to be your friends. The answer to these people, as well as to some of the people who want to be your friends, is to brutally crush them out so that the embers of their civilization will never again trouble you with the fires of war.

To achieve the goal of utterly destroying your opponents, all you need is the Mega Laser and A health booster. After that, the process is a simple and easy one to repeat. Fly to an enemy planet, if it has more than 2 or 3 settlements use your special attack to remove the problem. If the planet has a T-score of 1 or below, ignore all ships and simply focus your fire on the settlement(s).

Far too much money can be wasted on trying to make friends with these people, when in the end, really they aren't worth making friends with. Similarly, carrying around ally ships is about the same as escort missions in any MMO, where they might think they are helping by giving your escort the ability to attack, but really they will just get in your way and die, which makes everyone unhappy.

Don't waste time forming colonies. It is cheaper and easier to just steal colonies from your opponents, and considering that the only ones you can steal are usually above T-1 it makes everything a little bit better as well.

The idea of the middle of the universe crossed my mind a few times, which is why I have a few settlements towards the middle of the universe. The problem is that now every time there are pirate raids, I have to run all the way across my empire to get there. This leads to the next piece of advice. Invest heavily in turrets. You can take your sweet time getting somewhere if it has turrets.
