Smoking Hey, this is just a post about what I think about smoking and why I want people to either promise me to stop smoking or to never smoke or even try it. Okay well this is some information that I found on a very good and well made website (www.thetruth.com). I reccomend everyone to go there and read everything... its very inspiring and can really open your eyes. I found out that every year smoking kills over 12,000 mothers. Thats over 12,000 kids that will never get to see their mother ever again and each year another 12,000 die. Isnt that already a good reason to not start smoking? Okay, besides that point every year over 400,000 Americans die of smoking. Thats only for Americans! Which means that thousands of other people die. Like Canadians and Germans... they arent even counted in that number. Only Americans are... thats 400,000 people dieing of just inhaling something. Thats not enough reason to not smoke? Well consider that fact that every eight seconds a person dies of smoking. So in the time that it takes my to start and finish writing this entry over 50 people have died. Thats alot of lives just for a few words dont you think? So please.... dont smoke... it hurts more then just you... it hurts everyone around you. Thats why smoking should be illegal... we all complain about how smoking marjuana should be legal or illegal. Its illegal and hardly kills anyone right now... yet there is something far worse out there that is killing thousands of people and it can be bought for a childs allowance at your local grocery store. So please... dont smoke or at least consider stoping if you do... its worth it... and please comment on this entry. I want to see how many people that read my journal have actually read this far and how many will promise me not to smoke...

	Smoking can kill you? surprised Damn, now that I know that there's no way I can continue to live with myself for smoking.

	I smoked for a time when I was eighteen and nineteen, even a little when I was twenty...which was really stupid, because I have asthma. Speaking of, here's another reason to not smoke, especially if you are pregnant or live with small children - it significantly increases their chances of developing asthma. I most likely have asthma because my dad smoked all the time in the house while my mother was pregnant, up until I was four years old, which is when I was finally diagnosed with asthma; he stopped smoking indoors after that (well, until my parents divorced and my mother and I moved out...), but didn't actually stop smoking until a year and a half ago, when he lost his second sibling to smoking-related brain cancer. He smoked for 47 years, so...I'm incredibly proud of him. shrugs People will always tease you for talking about how bad smoking is or act like you're stupid for talking about it, and they will say it's because everyone knows smoking is bad, but...it's amazing that those people who act like you are stupid for talking about it still continue to smoke, since they claim to know it's dangerous. "Oh, I've heard it over and over again, I already know it's bad for me and could kill me." THEN WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO SMOKE, GENIUS???? Anyone who smokes has NO right to call anyone who talks about the dangers of smoking stupid. sigh Anyway, I know this was incredibly long-winded, but I think it's great that you put this in your journal. Bravo, kiddo. smile

	I completely agree. I've seen people die form it. I just don't undertsand why people do it. I'm 19 and refuse to even ty a cigarette, cuz what's the point. I never want to be a smoker why would I even bother smoking. And I think it's the most rude and horrible thing when when smokers poison you. I chose to never smoke and I don't think anyone sould have the right to poison me. I completely belive in a ban, and hopefully one day people will see the light and one day it is illegal.

	with the mothers, they also may have more than one child, so more like 24,000 kids never seeing their mothers again. I hate smoking and agree with you. It is not cool, pleasurable, ect. but Hell. More people die from smoking in a month than aids, car crashes, plane crashes, alcohol, ect. combined. scream Smoking isn't right and the public should know that by now.

	If I ever smoke someone please either beat me sencelass or strip me naked and set me loose int he Alaskin wilderness becuase either one would be better then touching my lungs with those damned death sticks. If only I could get my father and mother and grandfather to stop smoking....oh well as well as smoking I'm not going to drink either cause they go kind of hand and hand in most cases and...yeah....remember ALASKIN WILDERNESS

	I've gotten all my siblings to go against our parents to quite. My little sisters and I scream at them if they smoke around us. Only my mom has listened and backed down, but my dad is as stubborn as a mule and would smoke with the door open, even though we're sitting right next to him. I've never smoked and never will. No drugs for me!
