The Demon's Halo
Chapter 3
Damu and I stared at Kirai in stunned silence as she closed her eyes in sadness.
Damu was about to speak, until he and I both remembered where we were.
I slowly turned around and saw we weren't alone. We were surrounded by people, all their eyes wide in fear and wonder as they looked at Kirai and Damu.
"s**t..." Damu whispered and looked at Kirai.
"You want Dawn dead Kirai? Catch her first!" He whispered, my heart stopped.
"What?!" I gasped, then Damu took my hand and ran.
Kirai was running after us.
"Damu, you can't do this! You're supposed to be protecting me not making it into a hunt!!" I gasped. He said nothing. I began to panic as Kirai was getting closer. I shut my eyes and ran. Before I knew what happened I was in Damu's house. Kirai sat down beside me.
"What?!" I whispered.
"Dawn, I was never going to kill you." Kirai said. "Damu was trying to make it look like I was until we got here. In case Sin was there watching."
I looked at Damu.
"Sin can't watch or listen, or even go into a human house. It's like a base where he is not alowed to go unless he is invited inside, like in those old vampire tales. So I brought you here so Sin couldn't eavesdrop." Damu said. Then Kirai sighed.
"But if he saw me come in here as well he might figure out what's going on and send demon's after me as well." She added.
"I know that Kirai." Damu sighed sitting down beside me.
"Will I be able to go home again?" I asked.
"Probubly not. There are probubly dozens of demons hiding around your house Dawn." Kirai said.
I frowned, then suddenly remembered something.
"What about Duke?!" I gasped. Damu and Kirai looked at me.
"Who's Duke?" Kirai asked.
Damu was suddenly very serious.
"Duke is Dawn's cousin. She's been living with him since her parents were killed."
Damu said standing up.
"Oh!" Kirai said, not saying anything else, but fear in her eyes.
Damu looked outside.
"Kirai, how many demon's are out there right now?" Damu asked.
She walked over and looked out.
"Everyone you see right now are demons. And the one by the tree over there is Asikari, Sin's new right hand man. After you..... died, Asikari took your place."
Kirai had trouble saying the word died.
"She must still love him." I thought. Then another thing popped into my mind.
"Prise!" I gasped a little louder then I'd hoped for. Damu looked at me.
"Would the demons go after Prise too?!" I asked worried.
Kirai looked at him then nodded. My heart jumped.
"What if Prise was hurt?!" I thought terrified.
Damu walked over to me.
"Dawn. Stay here with Kirai. Don't let anyone inside, not even if youthink you know them. Let no one inside!! No matter how much they beg or plead to be injured. Let no one inside. Alright?"
I slowly nodded. Damu brushed the hair out of my eyes and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "I'll be back soon."
With that Damu suddenly dissapeared.
Kirai looked over at me, I was shaking.
She sat down beside me.
"Trust Damu. He'll be back. He just went after Duke." Kirai said with a frown.

Damu made sure to fly abover the clouds so his white wings wouldn't pop out too much if anyone looked up. He was worried about Dawn. And his heart gave a lurch every time he thought of Kirai.
He came to Dawn's house and there were people everywhere.
"Probubly all demons with my luck." He thought.
Then he saw Duke from the second floor window.
He closed his eyes and appeared in Duke's room.
Duke let out a yelp of surprise and fell onto the floor.
"Darian? What are you doing in my room?" Duke asked catching his breathe.
"You need to come with me Duke. There's no time to explain, just come." Damu said.
"What?! You're nuts. I dont' think I want you hanging around with Dawn anymore." Duke said and then the doorbell rang. Duke headed downstairs.
"No! Duke! Don't answer the door!" Damu ran at him.
"What the hell are you doing?! Let go! It's just my friend Alex! Come in Alex!!" He called.
"No!" Damu thought.
The door opened and in a matter of seconds, the demon pinned Duke to the wall.
"Where's Dawn?!" It growled, holding a knife to Duke's throat.
Damu punched the demon in the gut sending him tumbling back.
"You're never getting a hold of Dawn! I'll kill you first!" Damu screamed.
