Thunder crashed wildly in the skies as the two armies approached each other. Two divine races, a battle between good and evil was about to begin.
"My Lord? The army approaches fast, what are your orders?" the young demon spoke, a hint of uneasyness present in his voice. The demon known as "Trinity" stood, his arms crossed his gaze on the horizon as he waited for the angels to arrive.
"We wait, there is no need to fear the angels, they pose no threat to us." He spoke, his voice was cold and uncaring.
"S-Sir? The angels have decimated our almost all our men, we couldn't last another battle...this is total suicide!"
Trinity's darkness familiar appeared beside him. An imposing figure the familiar was. Known as Shade, it stood equal height to his master. Trinity, turning his body slightly: his gaze still on the horizon. He pointed to the young demon solider.
"Shade, we do not need weaklings like him in our ranks. Do with him what you wish." Shade obeyed his master without hesitation, almost immediately Shade had driven his bladed arm right through the demons neck. The demon tried to scream, but couldn't. The now dead body limp to the ground. Trinity looked down at his former comrade, a sadistic grin slowly ethced it's way across his face. He picked the body up, and walked back to the remaining army. He lifted it up and presented it to his men. Shade stood silently at his side and waited for his orders.
"This is what will happen to all who dare to question my orders. Shade!" He threw the body into the air. Shade flew up, in a few swift movements had stripped the flesh from the bones. As the remains fell to the ground, Trinity unfurled his wings and sent a gust of wing up to the carcass. The remains began to turn to dust and in an instant were gone. All that was left was the skull which fell to the ground. Trinity looked down at the skull, and grinned. The skull as if fearing his gaze turned to dust and was blown away. He looked out at teh remainin soliders, an ice cold glare in his eyes.
"Would anyone else like to fill his shoes?" He said grimly.
A quiet hush came over the soliders. From deep within the ranks a voice rang out. The mob of soliders parted and in the center stood one lone demon.
"You have gone to far! We've fought by your side for countless eons, you have no right to kill your own men.! We will not stand for this!!"
Trinity smiled and approached the defiant solider.
"The others, they call you...Indra?" he spoke in a mocking tone.
Indra was a powerful demon, but his power alone was nothing in comparison to that of Trinity's. He stood defiant even as the menacing figure of Trinity approached. Shade was following close behind. Standing mere inches away from Indra, Trinity eyes the disobedient demon.
" If any of you wish to see tomorrow you will forget what this...miscrient has said and follow my orders without question. I will not hesitate to kill any of you if i have to." With those final words to took to the skies and retired to his tent for the night. Indra watched as their "leader" left. He and the remain army were left quite distrubed, realising now that they were torraly expendable.
"This...this masacre must be stopped! He cannot be allowed to live any longer. He is strong, yes! But he has to sleep sometime, surely if we all attack him then he would be overpowered! Tonight we strike!" The rest of the demon horde felt so lost they could nothing but agree.
That night whilst Trinity slept, Indra had all the demon army surround his tent. whihle Indra and two other soliders went inside. Indra approached cautiously to the sleeping form of Trinity on the bed. Making sure not to make any noises to wake the slumbering beast. Taking a deep breath, he cast the bed aflame with dark fire while the other two solides attacked. In the midst of the fir and chaos the covers on the bed drifted off, revealing now Trinity...but the dismembored demon corpse. Upon closer inspection Indra realised to his horror, that the corpse belong to his own brother. Before Indra could even gather his thoughts, a fait sound of bones snapping caught his attention. He turned around to see both the soliders floating dead in the air. Their arms, legs and neck had been broken. The look of pure agone, frozen on their faces. Slowly a form began to take shape between the floating corpses, the figures' clawed hands grasped tightly to the the necks of the soliders. The shape finally became visible. It was Shade. It started back at Indra, not an ounce of remorse or mercy present in it's cold glare. Trinity stepped into the now blood stainded tent, standing next to Shade. He clapped his hands mockingly.
"You thought to kill me in my sleep, but in your haste destroyed your own family...your own flesh and blood! Congratualtions, your now a cold blooded murderer." He said softly.
Indra unable to even talk, charged at Trinity in a blind rage. Shade seeing this threw the dead bodies at him. The lifeless corpses hit Indra hard, nearly knocking him down. Disoriented and angered he stumbled outside. He gaped at what he saw next. The entire army....was dead. Every last solider had been killed. Dead bodies littered the ground, blood was everywhere. Indra nearly fainted from the smel of burning flesh and rotting corpses, he could not believe that anything like this could ever happen. His own leader, the one who he trusted with his very life...had murdered every last demon solider. Trinity and Shade walked out from the tent a triumphant look on his face, almost please expression as he saw the broken look on Indra's face. Trinity aimed to walk past, but stopped when they were shoulder to shoulder. Leaning into Indra, his frigid breath upon his ear sent shivers running up his spine and made his blood run cold. Trinity spoke in a soft, yet malicious tone to the once strong and noble Indra.
"How does it feel? To kill your own flesh and blood. I must comment you though, your rash thinking and harsh decision made it much easier for me to kill the rest of this pathetic group. Like lambs to the slaughter." As those words passed through Trinity's twisted smile; Indra could feel his heart drop to the pit of his stomach, falling to his knees, tears of rage and sorrow fell from his cheeks. Trinity saw this disgusting display and cringed. Leaning down, he spoke to him again.
"I'll end your suffering now if you wish. You may join the rest of your pathetic group, on their way to oblivion..." Without waiting for a response, his body began to crackle with dark energy. Placing his hand on Indra's face; he dug his claws deep into his flesh and slowly raked it across his face. At the same time, the dark energy burning away the torn skin to finally expose bone. Dropping Indra to the ground, he sneered as he listened to his screams.
"Goodbye...Indra..." He said triumphantly.
Trinity kneeled down and sunk his fist deep into the soil. The earth beneath Indra began to rumble violently as the dark energy surgerd forth. In a blinding flash of light, the rotting corpses, Indra...everything but the ground where Trinity and Shade stood was gone. All that remained was a smouldering crater and the faint odour of blood, Trinity's sadisitic laugh could be heard echoing through the trees. out of the corner of his eye he could see a form moving around in the rubble. He jumped down into the crater and was in fast approach of the form.
"Alive!? How could anything surviv?" He said bitterly. Reaching into the rubble, he pulled out what looked like a wolf. Before he could ask for a name, it had loost conciousness. Trinity was tempted to kill it immediatley, but instead decided to let it live. Anything that could stand up to his attack deserved to live. He handed to animal over to Shade who slung it over it's shoulder.
"Take care if this, be sure to tend to the wounds and above all DON'T KILL IT!" He said sternly to his companion. Shade obeyed without question.
Trinity looked to the horizon and saw that the angel army was finally approaching.
"The angels...they've arrived..." Looking back at Shade. "Take care of the wold then join me in the feild. They're here...and this fight will be glorious." Trinity said softly, his eyes focused on his opponent. He spread his wings and took to the skies, to face the war he so long for.
Alone, Trinity faught off the hordes of angelic warriors, Shade soon joined the fray accompanied by the unambed wolf solider.
"Your name? What is it?" In the midst of the fighting Trinity was still able to ask such an odd question. The wolf demon looked at Trinity for a moment before asnwering.
"Laz....Lazurathi..."Before the demon could say anymore, he was struck down by the leader of the angels. Trinity caught Laz and gave him to Shade, he eyed the angel menacingly before attacking. The battle was close to over now, the angel army either dead, dying or retreating. The two rogue demons and their leader had turned the tides, the angels leader was rapidly losing strength. Just as Trinity was about to deal the final blow, a brilliant light surrounded the three, transporting them to an unknown location.
They stood alone in a darkened room, with only a ligh cast above their heads. Eight imposing figures appeared before them. Their figures barely visible in the dim light, Trinity stood almost in disgust. He let out a vicious growl and leapt at the figures, without warning six other figures appeared behind the enraged Trinity. One raised its hand and stopped him in mid-attack, the power used to stop it amazed even Trinity. The six, each wore a different colored robes, each corresponded with an appropriate element. The six quickly disappeared. Although the figure clothed in the white robe lingered for a moment, it stared at Shade for a moment, then tooks it's leave. Shade seemed somewhat spooked; Trinity stood once more, his anger growing by the second.
"Why have you brought us here!? I could have won!" He yelled at his captors, the eight did not stir. They just continued watching Trinity. Finally one spoke. It's voice was that of a womans, it had a gentle yet powerful tone.
"Silence, in this hall you have no power. Do you know why you have been brought before us?" Trinity stared at the figure speaking, he grit his teeth waiting for her to answer. Instead another figure spoke. This one had a stern and malevolent voice.
"We are the judges of heaven and earth, you Trinity have been committed treason against your own people, for this the three of you will be punished." The figure paused and looked over at Lazurathi. He examined the wolf demon a few times and finally spoke.
Lazurathis, you hav done the least, as such, you will recieve the most leanient punishment. You will be stripped of all your memories and be reduced to a mere wolf. Also until this seal engraved onto your shoulder is complete your powers and memories will never return. Your final punishment, will be for you to wander the earthly plain, until you can once again find this place...and Trinity.
The imposing figure held out it's hand, pointing a claw finger to Lazurathi. There was a brief flash of light, and there on Laz's shoulder was half a runic symbol.
"Now wolf be gone! Your memories and power have been sealed." The figure spoke sternly. A sphere of light surrounded Lazurathi, and then was gone. Trinity and Shade now stood alone. Ready to face their punishment. The female judge spoke once again.
"Shade, you were once one of the seven elementals that served under us, you however chose your own path and went with Trinity. Because you were only following your masters orders, you will only be stripped of your powers...but I won't be the one who takes them...they will." The figure took a step back and the six robed beings from earlier appeared before Shade, five stood behind the being in the white robe. It spoke in a malicious, dark tone.
"Shade elemental of darkness, familiar and soul-link to Trinity. You betrayed us! For this you will pay dearly! I Lumina, elemtal of light strip Shade of his power."
Dark Energy began to flow out of Shade's body and dissapated into Lumina. Shade scream an unholy scream as his body began to change. He fell to the ground, defeated and shamed. The once powerful Shade had been reduced to his infant form...a mere bat, having only a fraction of his power left.
The tiny bat flew to his master, it fluttered in between the figures and Trijnity. Shade squeaked defiantly, determined to defend his friend even in the shape he was in. Trinity smiled, he helf his hand out and gently moved Shade to oneside. He grit his teeth and prepared for his judgement. This time two judges, one of heaven the other of earth spoke. The spoke together as one.
"Trinity, at one point in this universes's creation there were ten judges, one sacrificed himself to creat the earth. Do you know who the ninth judge was?" The judges spoke with authority and power. Trinity stood silent, confused about what he was being asked.
"You, Trinity were the ninth judge. You were the one reponsible for creating the two divine races, you called them...angels and demons? The demons though, you seem to favor more then the angels. You blindly gave the demons more power and instead of strength granted the angels with intelligence. The demons believed they could conquer the cosmos with their power...but needed to defeat the angels first. So, a war broke out. We exiled you for creating these "beasts." Somehow though you merged with a demon and took on their attributes...thus taking on their ambitions. You aided in their war and interfeared with their creation. For this, your punishment will be severe."
Trinity took a deep breath, he was tempted to attack once more, but decided against. Knowing full well that he would just be stopped. The figrues spoke again, their voices boomed through the hall where they stood.
"For your meddling and treason against the demons you sought so much to aid, you first punishment will be a simple one. You now have immortality, you will be given and eternity to think about what you've done, alone. Never will you die...ever. Next, your memories, power and even current form will be stripped from you." Three of the eight figures held out their clawed hands, three different streams of energy flowed out from Trinity and went into the three judges. Each judge now held a different portion of Trinity. As the final stream disappeared, he fell to his knees; his body shuddered and he let out a horrific scream. His wings and tail shriveled and disappeared. His body shrank and instead of claws and horns, there was now human flesh and hair. He lay on the ground weakened. His very life force felt like it was being ripped out. A flash of blue hair adorned the top on his now human head. The two judges spoke once again.
"You are now a human, Trinity. In truth, we did not have the heart to take your power nor your original form. We have merely sealed them within you, one day, once you have repent for your sins. Your power will return. Your memory of what has just transpired though will remain as fragments in your mind. We hope that you will learn from this, and maybe one day rejoin us as a judge. Finally, for your last punishment. You will be sealed away inside this very hall. Within these confines, no one will find you. The domain is known as Sanctuary of the Sky, hopefully in time you will leave these halls a new person." The judge spoke with a sense of pity and sympathy for Trinity. The eight stared at Trinity for a moment before disappearing, teh once pitchdark room was now lit again. Revealing a massive marble hall. A door at each end, Shade looked at his master for a moment, then landed on his head and made himself comfortable. Trinity looked up and smiled.
"Come on Shade, let's see what our new "home" has to offer." He knew in his heart that there was no means of escape from this place. His only way out was through the front gates. Which were not closing fast. His voice sounded defeated and weak, but at the same time had a hint of hope. The door to the marble stone hallway closed behind Trinity as he and Shade left to explore their new surroundings. One of the eight reappeared in the hall, this one looked young. In her hand she gently held onto a small animal. Opening her fingers, she revealed it to be a small kitten, it's eyes had a glint of intelligence. The young female judge looked down at the kittne, in a soft gentle tone she spoke to the animal.
" Watch over him, little kitten...make sure he's on the right path. My brother is just a bit confused right now." The little cat stared up at her curiously for a moment, before nodding. It stood up and stretch and then it quickly jumped from her hand and was in hot pursuit of Trinity. As the judge disappeared the sound of the front gates closing echoed down the halls. Two angelic warriors carved into the marble beside each door. Posed in such a manner to look like they are pushing the the doors shut.
Forever Trinity would remain within in the confines of the Sanctuary. Time passed and the wars ended. The angels brought about a new era of human evolution. The holy domain known as Sanctuary of the Sky should have remained forgotten in the sands of time. Until one fated day, it became more then just a legend...
THE END...?
