Chapter 8

I ended up staying for dinner at the Chandler’s house. Even though the meal was nice, I barely even picked at my plate. It was too early for me to eat again, so I decided to have an apple later. I heard Mrs. Chandler muttering to her husband about how skinny I was, so I decided to take a few bites of food. Either way, I could still thank her for the meal. After dinner was over, we went up to his room upstairs, and Michael introduced me to a TV.
“What is that?” I asked him pointing at a large black thing. It was almost like a very thin box.
He chuckled, “That’s called a TV. You can watch stuff on it, like episodes of a series or movies.” He grabbed a small black thing and pressed something on it. The TV flashed on to a blue screen. Michael put a shiny circular thing into a different, smaller box and pressed some more buttons. A thing started playing, and it looked like there were people IN the TV itself.
“Are they stuck in there?” I asked timidly.
“Nah, it’s just pictures that are put together with sound.”
I watched it for a couple of minutes, but got really bored. I yawned, tired from sliding around on all the ice today. I glanced at the clock and jumped up, because it read 9:48pm.
“Hmm?” Michael looked at me confused.
“I should be getting back to the hotel soon. Plus we probably have school tomorrow. And I don’t want to be exhausted tomorrow.”
I took a step, tripped over my boots, and fell into Michael’s open arms. I slowly looked up and him, my mouth slightly open. I was tilting my head, and he was getting closer to me. I felt something, a warmth, a craving… but for what? We were so close now; I was staring straight into his eyes, holding my breath. I closed my eyes, and he pressed his lips against mine gently. The door banged open, and we both jumped back from each other and whipped around in the direction of the door.
“Hey! I thought she wasn’t your girlfriend!” Michael’s little sister, Kasey said with a disgusted look on her face. Michael just smirked at her.
“Well, uh, I guess I, uh, better get, uh, going now,” I stumbled on my words, still dazed from the kiss. I grabbed my messenger bag and walked downstairs, with Michael following me.
The moment I stepped outside, my head cleared. I had fallen in love with Michael. There was no doubt about it. I sighed contently. So many things can happen in one day! One moment I was having lunch with him and telling him my secret, the next I was kissing him, or rather, he was kissing me. I shook my head, surprised with myself. What would Serena say? She’d probably call me insane and think I’m a terrible, horrible goddess for falling in love with anything other than a god. Well guess what, Serena! I think he has a bit of god essence in him!
The ride back to the hotel was silent. I didn’t know what to say, so I was content with amusing myself with Michael being a god. Sometime during my fantasies, we arrived at the hotel. I knew I had to talk to him, so I turned to him.
“Thank you, Michael. So I guess I’ll see you tomorrow. Love you,” and I leaned over to peck him on the cheek and I hopped out of the car and walked into the hotel.
The lobby had a few stray teenagers and young adults hanging around in it. I decided to get some hot chocolate from the coffee shop. Standing in line, I started thinking about the day, but only focusing on the time spent at Michael’s house. I remembered how sweetly he kissed me. How his lips felt on mine, how they tasted. I licked my lips and found a small trace of his taste on them. I shivered with pleasure, and then stepped up to order.
Back up in my room, I opened my Death Tome and decided to send Serena a letter. Why not? I grabbed my special quill that doesn’t work with the note book and sliced open my wrist, using my blood for ink. That was the only thing that didn’t work on the Death Tome: The owner’s blood in combination with a phoenix feather quill. I started:

Dear Serena,
Hey, I was just wanting to say Hi. I really miss you. How is everything going? Anything that I might need to know about? Please tell me if there is. I’ve got some crazy things to tell you.
First off, remember when I came back from the Human world last year, how I would always spend the day watching that boy for a month? Well, I met up with him today. We go to the same school. Since it was canceled today from all the ice and snow after lunch, I spent the afternoon with him and his family. His mom thinks I’m anorexic, I heard her whispering something about it to his dad. I had to tell him what I was, but only him. He met Xavier, and he witnessed X’s death. He’s completely cool with me being a Shinigami. AND, you won’t believe what happened! He kissed me!
Well, I hope all is well. I love you, and tell Matsuda that I might forgive him. And tell him hi, since he is my dad.

I tore the page out of the note book and folded it, sealing it with magic. Focusing all my energy on teleporting it to Serena’s bed, it disappeared. I felt accomplished and really tired, so I changed into my pajamas and fell asleep.
