A Vampire's Heart

I sat on my bed for a while after the funeral.
"Vex is really gone...." I whispered. "I barely knew him...." I felt a tear slowly falling down my cheek as I satred endlessly out the window at the grave.
My door opened.
"Jaine." I turned my head around and saw Wesley leaning against my doorway.
"Wes, you should be resting now." I said.
"I know, but I knew you were hurting." Wesley said and limped over to me.
I hugged him tightly and sobbed.
"Another king gone." Corona sighed as she entered my room.
"Haine is devastaded." Wesley whispered.
"I know." Corona agreed then looked at me. "Jaine?"
I looked up at her through tears.
"I know the death of Vex and Cara is sudden and painful, but you know what we must do now, right?"
I thought and nodded slowly, shedding more tears.
"I don't think I can, Vex is gone...... I can't." I sobbed.
Wesley took my shoulders and pulled me at arms length to look at me.
"Jaine. Look at me." I looked. "You have to do this. I know it's hard. You still have time. We still have to rebuild the castle, but listen, now that you ended the war I can get some of the wolves to help us out. They won't like it, but Riley was their leader. He's gone now, and since I'm his younger brother, I'm their leader now.
After we rebuild the castle, you have to take your place in it, whether you like it or not." He said sternly yet calm. I wipped my tears away.
"You won't leave me will you?"
"Of course not Jaine, I would never." Wesley hugged her tightly. "I love you."
"I love you too, Wes." I whispered and began crying into his shoulder once more.

A year later

"Jaine!" Aya ran up to me. "Let's go!"
I took a deep breath and followed Aya into the castle.
On one side of the room, werewolves were sitting, and on the other side, vampires.
I walked up the aisle and to Wesley, who was waiting for me at the alter.
We were wed that day. It was the best day of my life, and later that day, they crowned the new King and Queen, me and Wesley.
We broke a new record too, to be the first couple, vampire and werewolf, to marrt one another. And since that day, werewolves and vampires lived together, without rivalry.
"Jaine. Vex and your father would be proud of you." Haine said hugging her daughter.
"Thank you mother." I said and looked at Wesley. He smiled at me, and kissed me.
"You're majesty!" A scream came.
"Already?!" I thought.
Vincent ran through the doors.
"What is it?" Wesley asked standing up.
"It's a shapeshifter! She killed Victor!" Vincent reported.
I gasped, we've only just become king and queen and already something happened.
Wesley looked at me.
"Wesley, you need to help us. I'm sorry it's so sudden but I'm afraid these shapeshifters are upset about the werewolves and vampires joining together." Vincent said.
I looked at him.
"Jaine, I'm sorry. Take care of things until I return. And I will return this time." He smiled at me and ran out with Vincent.
As I watched him go, my heart gave a little sqeeze.
"A vampire's heart is not easily broken, but when it does brake, it's hard to fix." I thought. "Come home to me as fast as you can Wesley, my heart's only whole with you in it."
