So about my computer. Turns out there ARE infact places that can repair hard drives/recover data from corrupt striped drives. Awesome huh? Well, it would be, if it weren't for the fact they cost $4,000 or MORE! . . . Yea, that aint happening.
So the other day, I went out and bought myself a new drive - and DVD/CD burner as a precaution - and got them installed.
Did some looking around online to see what some of the latest stuff had been. Found "the fastest drive to date" and was very happy to see in many cases it was superior to what my CURRENT comp had; I originally had two Raptor drives in Raid 0, which makes them striped, combines their size, splits every piece of data in half, and greatly increases the speeds.
The new drive is called a Velociraptor biggrin So, yes, it is an "evolution" of my current Raptors.
And I got bit by inspiration and decided to draw a sketch. Surprisingly, I also wanted to do a chibi of myself! I'll be honest folks, I suck at chibis. I rarely do them, and when I have - they've been...meh...
But for some reason, I wanted to do this one as such.
Well let me tell you what folks, I LOVE what I did! I don't know how I did it, but before I went to bed I furiously worked on this piece. It came out FANTASTIC!
So i bring it into work since it's larger than my home scanner (which is pathetically small) and tried to scan it in. Now, to link back to me being in pain - I tried two of our large scanners. One kept scanning my image in as a glitch of colors and crap, so I think it's in need of repair. The second freakin MOVES and tried to EAT MY DAMN ART BOOK!!!
You do NOT mess with an artist's book - a true artist pours their heart and soul into each piece, and when done, leaves a fragment of their soul as a memoir. This S.O.B. tried to eat my book! The scanning bed moves underneath and jus- ERGH!!! I managed to recover my book, but not without slicing into the sides of both my middle fingers. There are these metal sheets on the side, and the book was lodged underneath the front. I grab both sides of the book - pull - and slice... A metal cut is painful, more than a paper cut I believe since you don't know WHAT the hell is covering the metal.
The injury was worth it though, but my book didn't come back without losses of its own. Many of its pages now have a gash close to the spine on the tops. *grumbles angrily* I remembered after both of these we had a good ol' small scanner that was larger than mine at home and had served me well in the past with scanning things in.
Went, put my book on the thing - it scanned - image came out fine and perfect. Where the hell was my brain before all this? stare sweatdrop
So, did some editing, combined a few things and...well.. See for yourself biggrin Haven't scanned something in awhile so this is a treat:

Weee how fun! So yea, I've got a computer again - and I have a LOT to do to get it ready... A lot to download... A lot to fix and work out... sweatdrop But yaaay computer - yay!
