A Vampire's Heart
Chapter 8
"Vex, what is that?" Cara asked as she looked out the window.
Vex walked over to the window and looked out.
"It looks like a pack of wolves, that's odd, they usually don't wonder out of the woods like this...... unless...... something's wrong." Vex whispered.
"Do you think there's a fire?" Cara asked.
As if it was on cue, the room was suddenly surrounded by flames.
In seconds, the room was like an oven, cooking Vex and Cara alive.
(Fire, extreme blood loss and anything threw the heart are the only ways to kill a vampire)
"Vex!" Cara gasped. "What's happening?!" she was already in tears.
Running towards the door, Vex began coughing, it has only been a minute and he was already getting exhausted.
He grabbed the handle, but it was locked!
All the windows were locked as well!
He began to get worried and ran back to Cara.
"Vex!" She coughed.
"Cara, stay close, this isn't an accitdent, someone's trying to kill us!" He shouted over the crackling flames.
"No, I'm just trying to kill you Vex." A voice laughed.
Cara's eyes were full of fear.
"Angelus?!" Cara gasped.
"No...... it's you! You rotten demon!" Vex shouted, and burst out in coughs.
"I have a name you know, call me Shetani." he laughed.
"He's the tempter demon?!" Cara asked, struggling for air.
Then she collapsed in his lap.
"Cara!" Vex shouted, and looked up at Shetani.
"I'll kill you!"
"With what? You're soul?!" Shetani grabbed Vex by the throat and pulled out a golden dagger.
"Go ahead. Kill me!" Vex growled.
Vex could hear the wolves trying to get in through one door, and he heard Haine and Corona banging on the other door.
But instead of killing him, Shetani took the dagger and drove it through his shoulder, pinning him to the floor.
As the flames danced around them, Shetani looked over at Cara and picked her up.
"Don't touch her you monster!" Vex screamed trying to get the dagger out of the floor and himself.
Shetani smiled and pulled out another dagger.
"A greater feeling then killing you, is watching you suffer from a heartbrake." Shetani smiled.
Vex fought, ignoring the pain and he finnally got the dagger out of the floor! He stood up and attacked Shetani, but it was too late.
Cara was on the ground, a dagger in her chest, and blood spewing out of her.
"No...... Cara!......" Vex collapsed to his knees and leaned over Cara's body.
He began to cry.
"Cara!" He hugged her body close to him.
Shetani stood over him and laughed.
"CARA!!!" Vex screamed.

I opened my eyes, expecting to be in Heaven, or in Hell, wherever I had to go, but instead, I was in front of a campfire, wrapped up in a blanket, the smell of blood fresh in the air.
I stood up and looked around.
"Princess, you're awake!" A voice gasped. I turned around to see Angel.
"Angel! You saved me!" I ran up and kissed him, but this time, he pushed me away.
"Angel, what's wrong?" I asked.
"Listen Jaine, I don't love you." He said.
"But you told me-"
"That wasn't me. That was the tempter demon pretending to be me." Angel said softly. I was in shock.
"What?"
"He was trying to kill you Jaine, he set this up." Angel said.
"How am I supposed to know that you are the real Angel then?!" I gasped.
"A Tempter demon can only pretend to be one person, and look over there." Angel pointed at the cave.
I looked in and saw someone lying down completely still.
"If I was the tempter demon, why would I have Wesley with me?" He asked.
To my surprise, my heart leaped.
I ran over to Wesley.
"Wesley! You're alive!" I laughed. He didn't move.
"Wesley?" I reached out and touched his face, in an instant, I pulled it away.
"He's so cold...... werewolves are never supposed to be cold! Angel!" I shouted.
Angel walked over.
"Wesley! Wake up!" I shook his shoulders. "Wake up!"
Angel put his hand on my shoulder.
"Jaine, he's not going to wake up."
"What?!" I felt tears swell near my eyes as my heart froze.
"HE's taken in too much silver earlier. He's alive, but its a very slim chance he'll ever open his eyes again."
