A Vampire's Heart
Chapter 1
The next day, I awoke and saw that I was still in the hospital wing.
The back of my head still hurt, but I stood up and left anyways.
"I don't care what people think, I'm better now." I thought.
I walked down the empty halls, and a sudden feeling of uncomfort shrouded over me. "Why is it so quiet? It's 7:00 PM, one of the most active times....."
My walking began to speed up. I was begining to think something was wrong.
As there was no sound, and no sence of movent, I began running throughout the castle. "Where is everyone?! I know I'm not dreaming, I can fell these stupid stitches!" I thought.
Suddenly, when I wasn't paying attention, I ran into something.
I fell to the floor as the thing I hit fell in front of me.
"Watch where you're going!" Someone snapped.
"Oh, I hit a person....." I thought rubbing my forhead.
I was relieved to see someone finally, but when I actually saw who it was, my happiness faded. It was Wesley. God, he is so annoying!
"What's you're hurry anyways? No one's dying." Wesley sneered and stood up.
"Well, excuse me! Can you at least tell me where everyone is?!" I asked in a stern voice. Wesley glared at me.
"Like you care...." He mumbled.
"What was that wolf?!" I snapped.
"Nothing..... princess!" Wesley snapped back and began walking away.
"Princess huh? Well if I'm the princess I demand you tell me where everyone is!" I ordered.
Wesley looked at me closley, loatheing in his one good eye. That scarred socket freaked me out, there wasnt even an eye in it. Lucky though, he always keep that eye closed so no one looks at the black, empty socket. Gross.
"Their outside." He growled and walked away.
"By the way, get an eyepatch! If you ever open that socket around me I'll kill you! It's creey!" I shouted.
"You're in luck! It's impossible for me to even separate the lids!" He snapped back, anger flaring in his voice.
I flinched a little, that was a little surprising, I didn't know the scar on his eye was closing his eye shut. Oh well, he's a nuisance anyways.
I turned around and went to my room to get dressed before I made my way outside.
Vex was holding a meeting. The wolf was right, everyone was there.
Even Corona, and she's usually never at the meetings.
I slowly walked up, Vex saw me first.
"Welcome Jaine, it's about time you joined us." He said, but he was not happy, no one was. Something must've happened.
I sat down on a chair reserved for me which was seated beside Haine and Cara.
"Let's continue." Corona said.
"Alright, Jaine, we have been talking about news that Wesley informed us about." Vex said. Wesley..... of course.
"Why isn't he here then?" I asked, thinking about why he was inside while he knew they were having an important meeting.
"I sen Wesly inside to get ready. He informed us that Riley was spotted near the river north of here and is getting relitively closer.We also got news frm Corona that the Tempter demon isn't feeding off of just Riley anymore and that it has it's own body now. This Tempter demon has become so strong, that we will have no hint of what he has taken form of. He could be anyone." Vex said. The people sighed and gasped in horror at the thought.
"You mean, the Tempter demon could be anywhere?" I asked.
"Yes, or anyone." Vex said.
I was silent.
"We're sending Wesley on a journy to try and figure out who the Tempter demon is pretending to be. It'll be a hard journy, and we might not see Wesley for a long time." Vex said.
I smiled faintly.
"Yes! I hope he never returns! That idiot..." I thought happily, until something clicked.
"Vex! Why'd you give Wesley such an important asignment?! Why him?! I can do anything that wolf can do!" I said standing up.
"First off Jaine, you're still healing from that hole in your head." Vex said.
"So?! It'll heal quickly! I can do this assignment faster then the wolf ever could!" I said.
"Second off, I didn't ask Wesley to do this." Vex said.
"What?" I whispered.
"He volentered to go. Knowing Riley is his brother, if he gets caught or in trouble, Riley's gonna be the one to deal with him. Riley is out to kill Wesley and me, so to protect me and the rest, he asked to take this mission. If he has to fight, he promised me, he would'nt return without the news of Riley's death." Vex explained.
I was silent.
"For once in his life, the wolf is accually thinking of others before himself." I thought.
"Jaine," Haine said. I looked at her.
"Why don't you go with Wesley?" She offered.
"What? As if! I'd die before I do anything with that mutt!" I snapped.
"Well, Jaine, she has a point. You say you can do this faster then Wesley can, so this should be over and done with in no time, second, this might help you to get along, and you might accually get to know Wesley more." Vex said.
"Yeah Jaine, Wesley's a really nice guy. He saved my life." Aya said.
"I don't want to go, not with him! He's such a nuisance!" i snapped.
"Jaine. I don't care what you say, go pack up. You're going with him." Vex said.
"What if I don't want to?" I asked crossing my arms.
They gasped, even Corona did.
Vex glared at me.
"Just because you're my sister desn't mean I'll go easy on you. I am still king, and I am ordering you." Vex sneered.
My heart jumped and I sighed.
"Fine, whatever." I stormed into the castle to go get ready.
