I'm a failure by design.
s**t.. Just got my dumb a** back online.
So, what should have been a hour-long project of swapping out my motherboard, CPU, and graphics card.. turned into 5 hours of beating my head against the ******** wall.
Mobo tray wouldn't come out. Finally got it out.
Mobo needed a 24pin PSU.. I had a 20 pin. So, quick trip down to compusa. ******** incompetent salespeople don't know the difference between a powersupply and a goddamn orange. They can blow me.
Snagged an Antec trupower modular powersupply. Not exactly what I wanted, but.. it's good.
So, pop in the new power supply, finish the build. Hook it all back up, andpush the power button.. and get.. nothing.
Power connector was loose. Reattached it. It booted.
To a bluescreen. A BSOD.
Old windows XP install didn't like my new mobo drivers.
Couldn't find my windows XP install disc.
Kicked several walls.
Found the disc.
So, ran a repair installation.
Which reset my clock to december24th, 2003. I don't know why.
And uninstalled servicepack 1.
So, got all the mobo drivers installed, sound drivers installed, and since I'd just updated my videocard drivers, they were good to go.
I've just finished reinstalling XP servicepack 1, and now I have to reinstall WMP 10, because it got corrupted.
Erg.
As a bonus, it benched about 7k 3dmark 01's, and 3k 3dmark 03's above the old build. Nice boost..
On a lighter note.. I love the new item update. Personally, my fave update in a LONG while. These whips kick a**,even though I see a s**t-ton of S&M avatars coming from this. Many of which are going to be mine. Cheers, ********.
