(It's a long one, get comfortable.)
Ok, a few years ago, people could buy colorful explosives to lunch into the sky, usually at new years or the fourth of july. Nowadays, the average person can only get the sparklers that stay on the ground.
Why?
Because little johnny dumbass blew his hand off with a rocket and people officially considered it unsafe.
Great trade there, sacrificing freedom and patriotism for safety of morons. (SARCASM) Allow me to explain why, in detail, I think we should still be allowed to use the rocket types of colorful explosives...
1. This country is (or was) reknowned for it's freedom, allowing people to do as they wished more than any other country in the world, and is now becoming known for giving just slightly more liberty than the next country. This is bad.
2. You shouldn't outlaw something because of stupid people, the kid's parents should have known better than to think;
"A small child, a potentially dangerous rocket? what could go wrong?"
Dumbasses. Apart from accidents, just idiots tend to screw up like this.
Stupid people kill eachother with cars, should it be illegal to drive?
Stupid people play with guns, there's already restriction on them, but if not for the 2nd ammendment, they would almost certinly be illegal.
Stupid people gamble away their money and become penniless at casinos, so gambling is illegal in most places. I'm mostly ok with this one, but the reason for the illegalization of gambling has nothing to do with protecting the citizen's wallets.
(Conspiracy theory time!) The reason is because the guys who mde it illegal want that money to be spent on factories, products, ect, not some con artist's addictive games. Greed, surprised? A man should be able to risk his money if he wants, just as he should be allowed to take the risk of hurting himself with fireworks.
What has america become today when we've sacrificed our favorite trait for security? The price of freedom is safety, Those of us who are willing to pay that price should have the freedom to do so. I'm well aware that many laws are there to protect from things no one rightly wants to risk, like homocide, but some are just being overprotective and constricting like an oversized winter suit.
I think our favorite trait at this point is not our freedom, but our wealth, riches, and the desire to have it over anyhting. it's funny, with more of the dangerous things made legal, there would probobly be more people getting hurt, and I know how much the healthvare industry loves people in pain. (or people who just think they're in pain) And yet, safety is still dominant. So much for tradition.
BOTTOM LINE: if people want to take risks in america, possibly with bright, screaming missles, they should be allowed to do so.
That's this week's rant, I'm Varmeip, Goodnight.
