Today I had a Chinese dress on for the day, complete with silk shoes. When we got up to the con, I was dragged off to look for anime immediately by Friend #1, and bought fortunes from a table in the Artists' Alley. I got a good fortune (although I did note that it alluded heavily to Kagome) and a candy, and she got... a really bad one (Hellsing whee ) and as consolation for the ad fortune, she got a manga. Like... a big one. That was a good inch thick. And her bad fortune can be undone by tying it to a tree branch. xd We wound up watching this one show about a pudding-loving princess. It looks amusing, but I didn't catch the title... If someone could give it I'd appreciate it. ^_~
Shortly after, we climbed to the top of the hill in the AQ (it was near the Dealer's Room exit) and sat for a little while, giggling at the manga in spite of the fact that it was entirely in Japanese and we therefore couldn't do any reading. And doodling. I called Dragoil and then we went out for lunch. Once there, we encountered people who wanted to take photos of us, and their friend filmed us walking down the sidewalk with parasols as they panned the camera past us. Once we got back, I located Dragoil and her friend, and then Friend 1 dragged me back into the Dealers' Room so she could take photos of the kimono displayed on the wall. I quickly skimmed the rooms for anything I might want to buy last minute, but found nothing, so we went back to hang around with Dragoil for a bit. ^_^
At about... 1, I took a walk down Artist's Alley for a good look before the tables all closed. bad idea, I wound up spending absolutely all of my cash on shinies within that last hour. sweatdrop
Upon meeting up with Dragoil and her friend again, we decided to go look for anime again... and wound up watching Voices from a Distant Star (so depressing... ) and Ceres (mustdownloadOMG) before we got into line for the Closing Ceremonies. And waited for ages. It was supposed to start at 4:30, we didn't get in until 5:15.
Closing Ceremony, however, was absolutely hilarious. We had the finalists for Anime Idol first, and I was horrified at the first of the two finalists. She was one of the bad singers chosen in the first round. The one who had been flat and kept cutting off her notes. The other girl, however, I liked. She was sick, but she still performed beautifully in spite of the odd coughing fit (fortunately away from the microphone and during instrumental parts). Then there were the two best entries to the AMV contest. The runner-up one was the funniest thing I'd ever seen (FY characters, along with a few bits of other anime, prancing along to Rocks and Trees, by Arrogant Worms), and the winner was just plain amusing. Stuff from various animes (mainly Azumanga Daioh) veyr nicely put together into an AMV of that '1985' song whose title I do not know and did not see. Thennn the closing video, full of fun, because we got to see clips from Cosplay, including a (male) Street Fighter character prancing merrily across the stage, and someone in such a long flowy costume that it took several people to carry her train onto the stage. And a Hughes cosplayer trying to show everyone photos of Elysia in the background while someone was talking. He was showing the photo to the camera, too. GENIUS!
They also showed us Animethon 12's opening video, which had me giggling inside for a long while (Think Ghost in the Shell crossed with the Yatta video xd heart ), and the unofficial attentance count for AE2005 was 2950 people. Yaay our con is growing!
And then the winner of Anime Idol was finally announced. It was the second girl, the one who was sick but still performed wonderfully. Yay! heart
The free iPod was drawn, some lost people found, assault and flattery began shortly after, and this year's con drew to a close. Said bye to Dragoil (she knows where I work and can now pester me, onoes~!) and then I complained about my tired feet for a little while. We dragged our tired selves up to the Lost and Found in an attempt to locate Friend #3's stolen tablecloth, but came back down empty-handed. Friend #4 gave us free leftover prints from the table, too. And... then we left. Thus concludes Lyth's account of AE2005, those Gaians who I met this year, I'll see you next year, ne? ^_~
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Friends revealed! Yes, all this time I've been referring to my personal friends as Friend #x. We~ll, it just so happens that most of them have Gaia accounts, they just don't use them, for the most part.
Friend #1: Sara-Jane, aka Cheshar Cat
Friend #2: Alice/Luca, aka Zeto
Friend #3: Erin/Rin, aka Aermin
Friend #4: Bobae/Bang, aka bobangk
OTHER: There is one other Gaia user I know IRL, but he didn't interact with us very much at the con, aside from running into us at the dance last night and giving me doujinshi to read: Mike, aka Dubaunt
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Gaians I've met at Anime Evolution, whose usernames I happen to remember (in no particular order, includes both years, since Journals weren't around last year xd )

Flight on Feathered Wings :: Pointless musings of The Nearly-Infallible Four-Eared Kimono Kitty
Flying on feathered wings with only two companions; they are my guardians. A gryphon flies to show the way; a dragon soars to wisdom. Thus I fly on my feathered wings, on a journey that has no destination...
Fly forth now to nowhere...

Sorry about not talking to you until now, I've been trying to catch up on sleep, as I only got about 9 hours in total over the three days at the convention.
By the way, I uploaded the photos onto my laptop this afternoon, so I'll send them to you sometime soon
Btw, you can also call me Suzu-chan (my badge name and nickname), or, my real name, which I never have used on Gaia before but have decided to anyways, Kelsey.
