Flight on Feathered Wings :: Pointless musings of The Nearly-Infallible Four-Eared Kimono Kitty
Flying on feathered wings with only two companions; they are my guardians. A gryphon flies to show the way; a dragon soars to wisdom. Thus I fly on my feathered wings, on a journey that has no destination... Fly forth now to nowhere...
Anime Evolution Con Report: Day 2!
Blegh. I got there at like... 1:00 because my mom had the bright idea of going kimono shopping in the morning. While yes, I did get a decent one for $30, and some fun shoes to go with it for about $5, I didn't really like going shopping when I wanted to be up the hill. On the way there I got a cell phone call from Dragoil and, after checking the Dealers' Room line for Friend #3 (see yesterday's post), I went to meet up with her, and walked right by while I wasn't paying attention. Buuut I found her anyway. ^_^

We got in the Dealers' Room line and her friend showed us the posters someone had randomly given her in the washroom. She had a very nice Chobits poster among the four. When we got to the front of the line, the staff didn't want me going in with my bag, so I stayed outside and doodled. When Dragoil and her friend came back (with Ranma 1/2 DVDs ^^) they asked my real name and... it turns out I have the same name as the aforementioned friend, if spelled differently. Cool beans~!

Then we went back to Artists' Alley to look at shinies and get free buttons, and got into the giant long line for Cosplay. Again, I stayed out because it would be horribly hot inside the theatre, if Anime Idol last night was any indication. Instead, I doodled some more at my friend's table while she coloured stuff and sold prints. And I helped her cousin sort and make magnets. By the time Cosplay ended, I had finished a couple doodles and we had more magnets than we would be likely to sell for the rest of the con.

Spotted Dragoil again, then waited with Friend #4 (who was dressed in a Korean dress today, along with Friend #1.) for Friends 1 and 3 to bring her food. Friend 2 was also supposed to get food, but she didn't ahve time to check before the Guest Reception started. A little while beforehand, she had claimed she would find Brad Swaile, yell at him, and put him on a leash (she's his Guest Liason, and he had run off after his interview). When we got food we were alll happy for a little while, then we were ordered to go get some fresh air whilst Friend 3 watched the table.

We went back to the Dealers' Room and I talked to the kimono guy about the yukata I'd had him save for me. I told him that if someone bought it, it would be fine, but if they still had that one next year, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, along with an obi. I don't know what they're going to do with it. I didn't buy anything this time, but I was quite disappointed that they had run out of Momiji plushies.

After Dealer's Room, we hung out at the table for a bit and then got over to the Gundam Seed panel. I met Asaia again on the way, and saw AndrAIa there. ^_^!

And then we had an hour in which we had nothing to do while waiting for the dance. Met up with Friend 2 almost immediately afterward. We ran into "The Fangirl of Doom" (as she has been dubbed by www.lelola.net in their AE con report of last year) and, because she was in her Akabane cospaly, we... took her hat. And fled rapidly from heer wrath. We also pulled a trick with the elevator (go up one floor to the outside area, then down a stairwell behind her and her friends) and spent a good 20 minutes fleeing until we found refuge in one of the video rooms. Meanwhile, I was being screamed at over the phone because our other friends couldn't find us. I forget which anime we were watching, but it was pretty good. And then it was time for the dance. I got some sodas and we got there a little early, then... I didn't dance. I got to read a little doujinshi, though.

There were also a small group of people yelling at everyone to "sign our body!"... Their 'body' turned out to be one of their younger friends, so I took one of the sharpies and signed him on his thigh, along with "Ha! I signed you!". If he still ahd space on his back I would've signed him tere, but unfortunately it was full. One of my friends signed him (note that this signature is just below the hem of his shorts) with "I was here" and an arrow pointing... into his shorts. I laughed when I heard that. xd

Too bad I had to leave at 10, though. And we still have Akabane's hat. whee
