Important: Please edit your ad carefully before submitting it. Once an advertisement is submitted, it cannot be changed. Also note that ad linking is limited to resources within Gaia Online only; no off-site links are allowed at this time. How do Gaia Ads work?
You purchase what are called "impressions" -- appearances of your ad on a page a viewer is loading -- in blocks of 10,000. Every time your ad comes up in the rotation and appears on a page a user is loading, one of your impressions is used up. So, if you wished to place an ad that would be viewed 50,000 times, you would add 5 blocks of 10,000 impressions to your Shopping Cart (for a total of $25.00).
What must I provide to place an ad?
You must provide the following information to place an ad:
* Caption - A brief description of your ad, no more than 25 characters long.
* Ad Text - The text of your advertisement, no more than 225 characters long. Your ad must meet the Gaia Online posting guidelines (be PG-13).
* Link URL - A hyperlink for your ad that will allow a viewer to jump to what you are advertising about. For example, if you wanted to create a hyperlink to a thread you have just created, you would use a hyperlink that looks similar to the following (leaving out the "http://" part - we provide that for you):
www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1234567890
except that you would set the value of "t" to be whatever the ID of your thread happens to be. A link for a guild would look like this:
www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/index.php?page_mode=4&guild_id=1234
except that you would set the guild_id to be whatever the ID of your guild is.
Helpful hint -- just copy the link from your browser window when you're on the opening page of a guild or first page of a discussion thread and take off the "http://" part...
What happens after I submit my ad?
After an advertisement is purchased and submitted, it will be reviewed by a staff member. If your advertisement meets our Terms of Service and is acceptable to our viewing audience, it will be entered into the delivery system and released for viewing.
Can I change my ad after it is submitted or while it is running?
Once an advertisement is submitted by you, it cannot be changed any further! We ask that you please edit your ad carefully and be certain it meets our posting guidelines before submitting it. Staff members will NOT edit your ads for you or make any changes to them; ads not meeting the Gaia Online posting requirements will be dropped.

Finally got the archive database server back on-line. All the old posts are back. Though the data still need to be moved to another database with better performance. That's a project for another day. sweatdrop
The recent change in the database server which handles the art arena had also caused the stats to stop updating. The problem had been fixed and the overall ranking plus user statistics is once again working. 3nodding

Remme: The best thing is helping out, I love Gaia and it's awesome that I can help it in this way.
Worst thing... Being taken for granted, a lot of people don't realize how much the mods do for Gaia.
Aerion: Well, there are a lot of ups and downs to this job. The best probably being able to keep Gaia a cleaner, more hospitable place, and to be able to help people when they need it instead of just sitting by and watching.
The worst thing is definitely the idiots. Oh god, the idiots. I dispise it when people feel the need to argue with me about very little things (like resizing their sig, or moving their thread). Then there's also the whole anti-mod fad. I dont see why people can hate someone that they've never met, but they are against them because they have 'power'.
Xiahou Dun: The worst thing about modding is all the misconceptions people have. It is believed that doing this is easy. Each thing that is reported is carefully looked at, sometimes taking several hours or maybe even days to fully gather all the facts.
