Well, it's going to be awkward to take showers for the next while. Our door is broken down. Here's what happened:
Seemed like a normal night, but nothing's ever normal is it? My brother came upstairs complaining of the basement flooding (since he practically lives down there) and pounded on the door to the bathroom on the upper floor for whoever was in there to get out of the shower quickly so the basement wouldn't flood more. No response over the noise of the shower. Frustrated, he went back downstairs.
A little later, he asks me to grab some towels from the linen closet and pound on the bathroom door again. I did so, but when I got to the door, I noticed something that shouldn't have been. The carpet of the hallway just outside was slightly wet, and (by further inspection from my toe) it got wetter as it got closer to the bottom of the bathroom door.
I think it was then that it hit me that the water was overflowing from the bath and my mom was in there, obviously unaware. (Asleep? Knocked out? Dead?) I freaked, dropped the towels on the landing and ran down the stairs. I stopped by the computer room for a dead second to say that the bathroom was flooding (I don't even know if my words were just insane muttering or what) and I proceeded to the kitchen to try to find a lockpick. Didn't find one, so I ran back to the computer room to repeat myself. Had to tell my sister and friend twice before they got it through their heads.
End-of-the-long story short, my brother was notified, broke down the bathroom door, and my mom was fine; she had fallen asleep with the shower going.
I'm still shaken and terrified.
