What I felt like writing today was....
Well, it's been a while since my last writing section here in our little world of Gaia, so, to the inspirational music that is Dir Engrey, I shall write you out another of my story fragments. (For those who don't know, I write in fragments.)
I am trying something unusual for me: first person narration.
Opinions are greatly appreciated.
Enjoy. >.<

A scream peirced the moonlit night, stabbing the silence and ringing through the forest.I was shaking, held still as stone, as if in a trance.
My scream, I realized. But I couldn't stop, couldn't flee, couldn't do anything but scream in thoughtless terror. My body was frozen.
It approached me, step by step. The horror that held me here, bound by more than just chains that drained away all strength. I felt as weak as first death, like a helpless child. This is what truly terrorized me.
Time seemed to slow, drag on. I felt as if this were a nightmare above all others. If I looked up, would I see the stars, the moon? Or just more terrors shining down on me, preparing their assualt on my defenseless form?
He was getting closer by the second. My voice choked out, my breath gone. Blood trickled from my wrists and pain shot up my arms, making me flinch. The chains binding me to the trunk of this tree were meciless. Yet instinct had kicked in. The cold instinct was all my mind seemed to be able to grasp, other than the terror that pulsed through my every vein. I held on to this thought, this cold primitive instinct, praying desperatly inside, but not knowing to whom my prayer would be delivered.
I struggled with all my strength to free myself. I became almost hysteric in my futile attempts, all the time the man, the monster whose face I still had not seen approached with a smug, victorious air.
My spine straightened and I cringed as my right wrist snapped. I inhaled sharply. At this point, even that seemed painful.
I examined my wrist, feeling more energy being expended as I watched it repair itself, though slowly. Movement cuaght my eye. In the light of the fire he and his men had lit, I could now make out his face. So close, not ten paces from me, he stood eyeing us both.
His face was twisted into a look of grim amusement; he was clearly enjoying our suffering. Rage crept through me like a quick poison. His eyes were cold, with a brutal joy. Another instinct, a stronger one than almost any was now awakened within me, stirring just under my skin like a witch's brew.
I longed more than the night itself to kill him, to spill his blood into my awaiting mouth and savor the glory of my kill. I almost forgot then just how the situation was likely to end in my demise, not his.
I wanted him dead maybe even more than I wanted my own freedom. I wanted to tear him apart with Amiaku at my side, for the look in his eye said he wanted nothing more than to do just that to us.
I was stiff, shaking, crying now. Crying with rage, and with the misery of knowing I could not have such satisfaction, but he would satisfy himself with killing us both, right here.
I seized my useless struggle, so the blood flowing down my wrists and arms would seize as well.
Amiaku lay still beside me, eyes closed, bound just as I was. My fear only increased by her dispondent pose. Planning our escape? I could only hope, for I did not trust my quivering lips to speak. How could I, with death so near?
My second death. But this time there would be no resurrection.
He circled, pacing with a proud stride, basking in his catch. His companions rose to join him, standing just behind him, a clear sign of his authority. They began to whisper to one another.
I sealed away my frightened eyes behind my shaking eyelids, wishing instead to seal a wall between us and them, a wall that could not be broken. I tried with all my might to steady my breathing, to think instead of panic and let my own fear and hatred be the grave I never rise from. I pressed myself against the tree behind me to ease my shaking.
The first man chuckled, kicking a twig toward me that hit one of my ankles. I glared back as well as I could manage.
"This is what happens to monsters like you. You are hunted and exterminated, like any other animal. That's our job, beast. Do we do it well?"
He luaghed again, and the others joined him.
"Well, do we deal with them now, sir?" The man just behind, to his left, asked cuatiously, he looked over at his shoulder at the other, then turned back to us. He seemed to search us over with his eyes. First Amiaku, then me.
"Those chains will hold them, Daarus. We could simply leave them to the sun..."
None of his men seemed to have any objection to this. He rubbed his face in thought while the others just looked on, silent. Despair and anger trickled like fresh blood through my mind. Were we truly to die in such a horrible way? I was helpless to prevent it, that I knew. Yet I expected no mercy from men who hunted us and talked of us as if we were inferior beasts.
This thought, I could not take. He was simply thinking aloud, plotting what to do with his catch. His fellows new, and stood still as pillars of ice as he plotted.
I could not stand this. I couldn't take being treated as meaningless game. I could not take such detached discussion, only paces away. Hot tears ran along my already tear stained cheeks. I felt weak and alone. This, too, I could not take.
I was not ready to die. Not again. I opened my lips once more, but this time, no scream of terror left them, but a snarl of defiance.
I could feel my eyes turn red as blood as the rage of this injustice swept over me in waves. My anger engulfed me, and with it a power I knew not existed pulsed through me, coaxed out from inside by my fury. I felt as if in a dream, a nightmare turned to my will by this new found power. There was no time for fear, or thought. But action.
He saw it in me. And even as I snapped the chain that bound me from my wrists like veins, he gave the order to kill us both. My ears did not, could not hear anything but the roar of blood in them, the pounding of power within me, but through the eyes that no longer seemed to belong to me, I witnessed his action.
A sharpened stake of wood flew at us both by the awaiting men behind him. I almost thought I heard the quiet thud as the stake peirced Amiaku's chest while I instinctevely dodged the one aimed at me. They had lost their advantage, and now I would kill them all as they would have me.
Though in my condition I did not even realize what they had done to Amiaku, my closest companion.
I could not see her body. I saw nothing but my enemys' horrified expressions as the flame of my rage, the flame I cast on all around me engulfed them.

WOW that was awsome lol i could just visually see it all happen reminding me perfectly of a PKing trip you know when you PK in runescape everything the ice, the chains, the anger. lol it all happens in a matter of seconds in fact just yesterday i felt just like that I was right about to die and lose one of my most tresured items and made it only by nothing short of a miracle although i never got the kill as you did, but it was enough for me just to get out lol my blood was pumping so hard i loved every second of it although sometimes i linger for the thought to die in battle it never happens much and when it does i dont lose anything this seemed to descibe everything in slow motion exactly how i felt it i couldent have described it any better it is perfect at the lest although i feel bad most of the time i would be the guy holding you down with a chain xD i think that was one of the most enjoyable 15 minutes of my life thank you for sharing that.
