“Why don’t you tell me everything that happened that day? From the very beginning, to the time you were brought into the prescient.” Dan asked his tone gentling at the sight of her eyes watering. It was times like these that made him feel old. The girl in front of him was still a child, and a suspect.
“I just finished my rehabilitation in the hospital, it took me eight years to finally regain some of what was lost from when I was in an auto accident back when I was ten. I was excited, and I wanted to celebrate it with Kit and Keith.” She started memories of that night starting to flow through her mind.
“Congratulations on your recovery.” Dan said as Bliss continued on with her story. With each passing minute into the story Dan couldn’t help but to wonder how it was that this girl could have been caught up in all of this mayham.
“And then I heard a gunshot and Keith looked as though he was in pain. Next thing I knew, Keith had a gun in his hand and fired in at a tree before he fell to the ground. I thought I had seen a man fall from the tree Keith shot at but I wasn’t sure, all I knew was that Keith was hurt.” Bliss stopped and looked up at Dan concentrating as though a realization had just sunk in. “Who was that guy? And why did Keith have a gun?” She asked her mind frantically running through all possibilities. She had never seen Keith use a gun before so she had assumed he never owned one, but on top of that, he had enough practice and knowledge to shot and hit someone from far away.
“All I can tell you is that we believe that Mr. Thomason was a hit man for hire. We think that he was a part of an organization that deals with the assignations of well known business men, and maybe the organization grew tired of him. Therefore ordering for his death.” Dan explained and watched Bliss’s face turn a sickly white. Dan motioned towards the one way mirror and in a moment the psychiatrist brought in water and set it beside bliss before leaving the room again.
“Keith was a hit man?” She asked weakly and took a sip of her water, this was all too much.
“That’s what we believe. I know this is a hard thing to take in, and I’m sorry for your loss. Is there anyone we could contact to take you home?” Dan asked as guilt washed over him. After everything this girl went through in her life, being here and watching a man who took her under his wing, as bad as he was, get killed right in front of her eyes is tragic. And to make things worse be imprisoned for a week is something he was having trouble swallowing.
“Emma.” Bliss whispered her voice cracking up with emotion as she tried to breathe evenly.
