Ann~Are we there yet?
Auron~Ann, we only just got on the ship
She sighed as she sat on the bed.
Ann~There are only about five types of fiends in Besaid, right?
Auron~There should be. What do you think about that guardian one?
Ann~I want its sword
Auron chuckled at her
Ann~Where're we headed again?
Auron~Kilika. After seeing the temple, we'll head for Luca
Ann~ok...Kilika...what's there?
Auron~a lot like Besaid, but their homes are supported over the water. Last time I was there, Sin attacked. There were…a lot of casualties. Not many survived.
Her gaze drifted to the floor. It reminded her of the attack during the chuunin exams. She understood destruction too well. Auron held her hand.
Ann~Who's Sin? Why did it destroy Kilika?
Auron~It didn’t choose to destroy Kilika. It just so happened to be there when it happened…It’s almost like a force of nature
Ann nodded slowly, understanding what he meant but still processing how it might have happened with the little details he provided. She didn’t want to know the little details this time.
Auron~Sin is an entity that is reborn over and over by the final aeon. Jecht was the last one when Yuna stopped the chain.
Ann~Wow...So she's really famous. I guess that’s what she meant by being a celebrity, huh?
Auron~Even before becoming a high summoner she was well known because of Braska
Ann~Wow...so what about you? You served with him, right?
Auron~I just did some things...Some more memorable than others
Ann~Okay...but that's not really an answer
Auron~I'll tell you my story as we travel
Ann pouted~Okay...If I grew up here, would I have been famous?
Auron~Very possible. You’d have grown up with Yuna.
Ann~Do you think I would have been a guardian for her with you?
Auron~Yeah. And even if the others wouldn’t let you, you wouldn’t let them stop you from coming along. Take a nap. By the time you wake, we should be there
Ann didn’t fight him as he tucked her in bed.
Ann~But I’m not tired.
Auron~But I know how you like to sleep. Go nap.
She rolled her eye and got comfortable. Auron watched her quickly fall asleep.
Auron~I wonder how much Kilika has changed in two years…

They arrived at the docks a few hours later, the sun high in the sky showing it was still the early afternoon.
Auron~The town is standing strong again. As if Sin never happened.
Ann~It’s really pretty. I think I could live here.
Auron~Would you let me live with you?
Ann~Of course, Daddy. So which way to the temple?
Auron~Straight that way, towards the mainland, but it looks like there's a protest…Or some other civil unrest…*sight* I’m too old for politics, dear.
Ann~Do you really think it’s more politics?
Auron~Considering Sin was the whole reason the teachings of Yevon existed, I think so. If it turns out to be that stuff, we’ll do our best to avoid it.
Ann~I think you’re taking your retirement too seriously, Daddy.
She gave him a nudge as they made their way across the dock. At the other end was a closed gate, with two guards keeping it closed. Upon approaching, they opened it saying the Youth League debrief was starting, and the two went through.
Ann~What’s the Youth League?
Auron~From the sounds of it, I think it’s a new faction.
Ann~Hey who's he? The weird guy with the cane. Do you know him? *shudders* He feels…different.
Auron raised a brow, but dismissed it for now.
Auron~I see Yuna, Rikku, and Paine. We can ask them.
As they approached the Gullwings, the Meyvn of the Youth League spoke about New Yevon withholding secrets.

By the time they got to the girls, the Meyvn was walking towards the woods.
Auron~Think our paths crossed too soon Yuna?
Yuna yelped and turned around, giving him a bow
Ann giggled~She reminds Me of Hinata
Auron~So what was he talking about?
Paine~His name is Nooj. He was rallying the Youth League against New Yevon for this Awesome Sphere
Ann~A sphere?
Auron~I don’t think it’s the same kind as the ones I was saying you could bring back
Ann just cocked her head to the side in confusion.
Paine~There’s a few types of spheres. These are the spheres we’re after.
She held out a plain sphere that glowed in the middle.
Ann~ooo...pretty
Auron~It seems that they’ve changed how movie spheres work now. I’m getting too old for this
He sighed as Rikku and Yuna giggled.
Paine~Hey, pay attention and stop getting distracted.
Ann~I am paying attention. I can’t say something looks nice?
Paine~Are you really though? It looked like you wanted to throw this like a glitter bomb.
Ann~If you keep talking to me like that I just might!
Ann made a jump to swing at her but Auron held her back
Ann~Dad let me gooooo!!! Aarrg! If only I could cast black magic I'd have set your a–rm!!!!
Auron covered her mouth with his other hand
Auron~Stop making me work for it, dear...
Rikku~Who taught her to swear?
Auron~Apparently she picked it up from her friends and mentors
After Ann's fit she hung there in Auron's arms glaring at Paine
Auron~It seems like her mentors taught her everything except how to handle her anger
Paine~Really? Might be good for a little three on one sparring. That is if she can handle it. She did take a while just to find those numbers back in Besaid
Ann~Sparring? I'm in, dad can I please? Pleeeaaase!
Auron~You're much better at fighting moving targets anyway
He let her go.
Rikku~Wait what?
Yuna~Are you-
Ann grabbed all three of them then ran off towards the woods. It didn’t take long for Auron to catch up to them. The short sprint was enough for the girls to be dazed and on the ground
Ann~This is too....maze-like and narrow here...and too many people blocking the paths...is there a bigger area dad?
Auron~Straight ahead and up the stairs on the first landing...but I'm unsure if we can actually get around everyone.
Paine~There's people???
Rikku~St-stairs?!
Yuna~That's right! That's Kilika's-
Ann had run off again, doing her best not to force out her non-existent chakra to quickly take open paths to get to the temple stairs. Auron sighed once more and calmly followed them

Ann had managed to run around the forest with the girls in tow, even barreling through the New Yevon soldiers, including the ones that gave warning shots. Auron in the meantime was just following her path of light destruction and calmly stepping over whomever she knocked down until he finally caught up to her at the first landing
Ann~Took you long enough, dad!
He stepped over another guard as he came up the last few steps
Auron~Ann, I'm dead and thirty-eight. You can't expect me to be like your uncle all the time
Ann~Whatever…
She examined the landing and noticed there were more people chattering about a sphere.
Ann~Ugh…more people…Girls, where else can we go? Girls?
They were heaped over each other, staring at nothing in particular, and lightly groaning.
Auron~You know, I think you dazed them from running around like that
Ann~Aw...but I wanted to fight them....
Rikku~Wow...Cute and strong...She would have been a good member when we were fighting Seymour...
Yuna~But the Aeons were still great...
Paine~Is she a fayth?
There was a rumbling from the stairs.
Ann~What’s that?
The Gullwings looked up and saw a machina coming down the stairs
Auron~We need to run.
Ann and Auron helped the three get up, but the machina had already cornered them into a fight
Auron~Not good.
Ann~You worry too much, daddy. With all of us together it isn’t so bad. Right?
Rikku~Right!
Yuna~Just be careful, Ann
Paine~Watch out!
It swung at them, and Ann immediately ran forward to swing back with her sword to deflect it. She winced from the force, but repositioned herself back closer to the group.
Ann~That thing’s fist is really solid. We should avoid center mass, it won’t do any good. The joints and those glowing orbs are small but I think that’s where it’ll fall apart the fastest.
Rikku~You got all that from one attack?!
The machina swung again and Ann pushed Yuna away while Auron stepped in to deflect its fist.
Ann~It’s the most logical thing I can see. Those orbs look like they're made of a different material.
Auron~Yuna, are you alright?
Yuna~I’m fine. Thanks.
Paine~Let’s kick some a** then.

There were a few more close calls, including one where Auron had to stop Ann from taking a risky move to break the machina faster. But after a tense couple of minutes, they defeated the machina by following Ann’s initial assessment. It fell apart and the girls relaxed while Auron quietly looked them over from where he stood. Ann moved closer to the wrecked machina to inspect it.
Ann~That was fun. A good challenge.
Some of the people from earlier crept closer, one in particular stood out.
Yuna~Oh, Dona, hi
Dona~Just what do you guys think you’re doing? Wait, Sir Auron?
Auron gave her a nod but didn’t say anything. He saw that Ann was still looking at the machina, and probably didn’t hear Dona as she didn’t turn. She also happened to stand where the other ex-summoner couldn’t see her.
Yuna~We’re sphere hunters. And this sphere is ours!
Ann~Oh yeah, you said something about that earlier.
Another rumbling came.
Ann~Another fight?
Rikku~Nope! Looks like our ride is here. Let’s go!
Yuna and Rikku started running
Ann~Do we have to run?
Auron~Best we do, dear. Follow Rikku
They ran off after them, and Paine joined shortly after grabbing the sphere. Dona wondered where the fourth girl came from.
