The next morning after breakfast, the Gullwings, Auron and Ann met outside
Yuna~So, where are you two heading next?
Auron~Mainly the same route as the pilgrimage
Yuna nodded and bowed
Yuna~So I presume we'll meet you and Lady Ann along our own adventures?
Ann cringed. She didn't like how it sounded with her name. She did her best to sound sincere and polite
Ann~Please don't call me Lady Ann. I didn't do anything to earn that title
Yuna~But...
Auron~Yuna, back home no one knew I was her father, including her. She never had a reason to enforce it. and she does prefer just Ann
Rikku~Yeah...She's too cute to be called a lady! ajah fedr y clyna
Ann~Did you…gesundheit?
Rikku~It means that I think you're cute even with a scar!
Ann~Oh. Would I look cuter without it?
Rikku~Oh of course not! It gives you charm!
Ann giggled~You've no idea how charming I can be
Auron~I warned them yesterday about the destructive streak…I hope it doesn't escalate where I have to step in…
Paine~Can we go now? Brother
Brother ~Are you guys in trouble? Brother is on the way!
Yuna~No it's okay, Brother! We're fine. We don't need to go yet
Ann~Who's brother?
Rikku~My brother, Yunie's cousin. We're cousins!
Ann~I sorta see the resemblance...
Auron~Lord Braska, Yuna's father, married an Al Bhed, Rikku's aunt. They were hoping to bring everyone together
Ann~Okay?
Auron~Politics
Ann~I understand that.
Paine~Why must it matter? That was years ago
Ann~Well I wanted to know *under her breath* b***h…
Auron smacked again
Auron~I said no cursing
Ann~Dad! It's hard not to swear!
Auron~Ann if you've already lasted over a day without swearing while conscious you should be able to last the whole time we'll be staying here
Ann grumbled while Yuna and Rikku giggled. Lulu came out
Lulu~Has anyone seen Wakka? I haven't seen him since daybreak. Girls, do you think you can ask around before going off to find him?
Yuna~Sure. We can do that
Ann~Daddy?!
Auron~*sigh* Only if they let you
Ann looked at the three expectantly, then Rikku and Yuna looked at Paine
Paine~Fine...but don't get in the way
Ann~Yessss!!! That's ok. I just wanna fight
Rikku~Should we be worried?
Auron~I'm not sure yet. Come Ann, we need to find a merchant for some items
They left the girls so they could ask around while they went to shop
Ann~smoke bombs?
Auron~Sure...and some high-potions and some phoenix downs
Ann~A what down?
Auron~It'll help revive you after you're knocked out. It's better than smelling salts
Ann cringed and nodded. Hopefully it didn't leave a scent.

After a while they met with the Gullwings at the gates
Ann~Where now?
Rikku~Well some of the villagers said that there is a door near the beach
Yuna~But we need to find the numbers for it that's scattered around the area.
Paine~Up for the challenge?
Ann~What kind of challenge is that? That doesn't make any sense to me...a challenge is supposed to be hard isn't it?
Paine~But you don't know the area. You'll probably need to climb some ruins too.
Ann~Give me five minutes and I'lll find the code and the door
Auron~I think you'll take longer just because of the fiends Ann...You'll need to adjust your strength too
Ann pouting~You're not helping with my cause dad...
Paine~I don't think you'd be able to do it even if we gave you an hour
Rikku~Auron? Should we be worried now?
Auron~As long as she doesn't blow anything up, the island is safe
Ann scoffed~You wouldn't let me bring any tags. It won't happen, daddy.
Ann ran off and Auron calmly followed her
Rikku~That doesn't make me feel better though…
Yuna~I guess we should find the door and wait for her then?

Some ways off the path a few fiends approached Ann and Auron
Ann~What are those?
Auron~That one is a wild dog. The one next to it is a water flan
Ann~Okay...so how does this work? Are they alive? Is there a special trick?
The flan started to warble,charging an attack
Auron~Well they've already spotted us. Just try not to wear yourself out
He ran towards the water flan and sliced it, killing it instantly. He kicked away the other fiend when it tried to gnash at him
Auron~Your turn
She ran and sliced at the dog, but it didn't disintegrate into pyreflies like the flan. Instead, the gash that it received pieced back together and tackled her back
Ann~What gives?
Auron~You're still adjusting
Ann~What do you-
The mutt attacked her again and growled when she moved out of the way
Auron~Okay? Do you need help?
Ann~I'm fine...Why doesn't it attack you? You were closer
Auron~You’re weaker than me
Ann~That's–
Auron~It's about to attack again
Ann went to slice at it twice and this time it disintegrated
Ann~How come I didn't kill it like you could have?
Auron~I've traveled this road many times and grew. Right now your body is still getting used to the lack of chakra to boost your strength
Ann~So it's like I need to learn from the ground up?!
Auron~That's right. I'll teach you things as you get stronger. You'll hurt yourself if I go too fast
Ann~Why are you underestimating me? You're not very supportive
Auron~I am being supportive. I'm recognizing your limits before you have to find out and put us in a dangerous situation.
Ann~You didn't say it was dangerous here.
Auron~It usually isn't. But that doesn't mean you should test your luck. Being an unsent isn't glamorous, dear. And getting injured here is a bit more challenging to recover from if we aren't in town, and healing magic can only do so much.
Ann~So, you’re saying I need to practice restraint?
Auron~That's right. I'll let you know when I expect it. You can still be yourself for the most part. You can continue to explore
He kissed her head and Ann ran off again. Auron picked up some currency that the fiends had then calmly followed his daughter

A few hours had passed since they set off from the gates. After taking some time to search around the beach, they soon found the girls waiting by a door at the crossroads.
Paine~It's been an hour since we started waiting here. Did you find anything?
Ann~I only found four numbers. The one on the beach was the hardest to get to.
Rikku~That's great!!! There's only four slots here anyway!
Yuna~Do you still remember the numbers?
Ann~Yeah, the numbers were 5, 3, 8, and 2. I dunno if it's scrambled though
Rikku went to work putting the numbers in the way Ann has recalled, then in different combinations before the door opened
Auron~Alright. Come on Ann
Ann~Wait, we're going?! Already?!
Auron~I can see Wakka from here. He's safe
Ann~But but but but
Auron~This is the girls' mission. Anyways I don't think the fiends will be strong enough for your liking in there
Ann~Okay...Bye Lady Yuna, Rikku, Paine
They waved bye as Auron led her back to the beach

Ann~So what now?
Auron~We travel to Kilika
Ann~so we'll be back on a ship?
Auron~It'll only take a few hours
Ann~*grumble* It's only been a day since we got here and already we're leaving...
He ruffled her hair making her glare at him
Auron~we'll be here for a few years Ann. The adventure isn't gonna stop just because I didn't let you explore a cave
