They sailed on for a couple days, with Jecht and Tidus only getting mildly strong-armed by Ann because they called her a ‘kid’ or a ‘brat.’ Their sailing came to an end that morning, and Auron tried to gently wake Ann. Tried.
Auron~Ann, we're here...
Ann just grumbled and rolled over in bed. Auron sighed and gathered their things. Afterwards, he carried Ann out
Jecht~She's still out?
Auron~For a while. I give it a few more hours.
Jecht~She's a heavy sleeper, like you
Auron~At least I didn't drink
Jecht~Hey, I quit, didn't I?
Auron~Yeah, at least. Well, we'll see you once we leave Spira?
Jecht~Yeah, later Auron
Tidus~Uh hey Auron, tell everyone I said hi, ok?
Auron nodded and got off the ship.

When he got on the beach he saw five people all wearing the same style of clothes. It was good to see the coach
Auron~Wakka
A redhead looked to where Auron had called and got hit with a blue and white blitzball
Auron~Are you okay, Wakka? Do you mind helping me a bit?
Wakka~S-sir Auron! Besaid Aurochs!
The other four put down a ball if they had one and then all five bowed
Auron~Oh yeah, I still have to teach that to Ann. No need for formal hellos. Wakka would you grab the bag?
Wakka nodded and took the bag from him
Wakka~Uh...um...Who's the girl?
Auron~My daughter. Do you mind if I lay her down at your place?
Wakka~Not at all. Just have to tell Lulu
Auron~That's fine. Thank you
Wakka led them off of the beach and towards the small village and temple

They spoke a little along the way, Auron mostly speaking about Ann while Wakka focused on blitzball. When they got to the village, Wakka led him straight to his home.
Wakka~Lulu, you in here?
Lulu~Of course, Wakka. Do you need something?
Wakka~Nah, not me. It's Sir Auron
Lulu~Sir Auron?!
Auron~No need to bow, please. I just need to lay her down for a little bit, Lulu.
Lulu smiled and set up the bed. Auron laid Ann down, brushing her hair back
Lulu~Do you mind if I ask who she is?
Auron~A lot of people are bound to ask. She's my daughter, Ann. Apparently, when I left my village, my wife was pregnant with her
Lulu gave Wakka a stern look.
Wakka~I'd never leave you Lu, promise!
Auron~So you two are together? And Lulu's pregnant? Congratulations
Lulu blushed and nodded, thanking him.
Wakka~And he's due real soon!
Lulu whispering~Not for another few months
Auron nodded and began to leave
Wakka~Sir Auron, where're you going?
Auron~Just to the temple. Ann'll be fine alone...That is, until she wakes, it'll be fine. I won’t be long.
Auron left. He wanted a moment to pray to Braska before having to help Ann through a crash course on culture.
Wakka~You'll still be here, right Lu?
Lulu~I will. I'll only leave for a walk

A few hours had passed since they arrived in Besaid when Ann finally stirred awake.

Ann yawned and rubbed her eye
Wakka~Lulu, she's waking up
Ann~What?!
Ann shot straight up from the unfamiliar voice and saw Lulu and Wakka eating and that it was bright as day outside. She didn't like that she didn't sense these people and didn't wake sooner. Auron wasn’t nearby either, which made her edgier.
Lulu~There's no need to-
Ann~DAD!!!
She ran out through the door way only to run into Auron
Auron~Ann calm down. They're my friends
Ann~But dad...
Ann looked up at him waiting for a reply
Ann~Dad?
Auron~Yeah? Get dressed, then we'll go in the temple
Ann~But...
Lulu~There's a curtain that hides the bed you were in. Sorry, if we scared you
Auron~Ah yes, Ann, this is Lulu, master of black magic. And over there is Wakka, retired blitzball coach
Ann nodded and politely waved at them as Auron led her back to help her dress

When Ann was ready, the two of them went out towards the temple
Ann~Dad, can't you hear my thoughts?
Auron~Sorry, Ann, but no. I didn't think that we would be able to anyway
Ann grumbled
Ann~You could’ve warned me…
Auron~I’m sorry honey, but I didn’t know. I never had a reason to ever try using it. However, there’s another thing I forgot to show you. It’s the way they bow here
Ann~They don't just bow regularly?
Auron~No...you take a step back with your left foot and bring your hands out to the side. When you step forward, bring hands in front, right over left, palms in. Then you bow forward and keep your hands there.
Ann~Okay...so it should look like this?
They stopped walking so Ann could show him
Auron~Crouch as you take that step back and that's perfect
Ann nodded and they went in the temple
Ann~Wow…It’s dim...and the singing...
Auron~The lighting helps with the atmosphere. It's more…spiritual. The song is a hymn that the acolytes, monks, and such chant.
Ann~Cool...What do we do here? You know I've never been to a temple before
Auron~We pray. In the past though, a summoner goes to the back of the temple to the fayth after going through a cloister of trials. They pray to the temple's fayth and they are given a summon.
Ann~What do you do in the trials?
Auron~They test your intellect to solve puzzles. The most annoying ones were at Lake Macalania and Bevelle.
Ann~Why?
Auron~Ice and moving paths
Ann~What about here?
Auron~It's straightforward here. A little tedious, but doable.
They went in front of a statue of Braska and bowed
Ann~These are the summoners?
Auron~Yes. This one is Lord Braska. He was the summoner I guarded when I first came here.
Ann~You mean when you left mom?
Auron gave her a nudge and shook his head as she giggled. She's just like her mother and uncle, and won't let him forget either.
Auron~Yes, child. Then I came back to be his daughter's guardian.
Ann~Will I guard a summoner?
Auron~No, that practice is no longer needed. You'll just be training while taking in the sights.
