I don't see a new computer in my near future.
Guess what cheap means. $200 - $300. I discovered this yesterday at Target. I told her I didn't think a computer for that price would be better than the obsolete piece of junk we're using right now. Today, I looked up desktops at Dell, HP, Circuit City, and Target. HP has one computer for $299 without a moniter. I didn't bother to see what else it didn't have. None of the other sites have one under $300. I told her that, so she's trying to deny that she set the price range that low. Mom bought a new printer/scanner/copier yesterday. No long search for the best machine at the lowest possible price. No hours of reading specs and reviews. It was on sale at Target. I took it out of the box, got it all ready to hook up, and discovered that the usb cable is sold seperately. I can get it from the manufacturer for $21. After I laughed myself to death, I found some on Amazon for much less. Today, after I open up the ps2 and dust it, we're going to buy a usb cable and a black ink cartridge. I can't say anything for the print or scan quality yet, but the reviews weren't promising. I'm looking at Newegg now to see what I could put together for around $300. They have two computers, without moniters, for around $250, but they're only slightly better than this one. This four year old HP with an emachines moniter. From Wal-mart, I think. I really don't want another HP. I opened up the NES. The circuit board has a large spot of rust, corrosion, and something brown that may have once been soda or coffee. Ha, no wonder it broke. I dusted it out, but it still doesn't work. Not suprising at all. I just hope I can get Super Mario 3 for the Wii soonish. I doubt all the NES and Sega games I had are going to be released on the virtual console, but I do have Super Mario, Super Mario 2, and Sonic 2, as well as some nifty games I didn't play when I was little, and that Super Mario lost levels game that was apparently meant to be Super Mario 2. I still want Super Mario 3, though.
