The Weekly Rant IX -Social acceptance and popularity
This week's bewilderment is something very common but seldom given thought: the desire to fit in with and be accepted by society. I'm sure we all know those idiots that will do anything to be noticed and popular, my question is why try to satisfy everyone? They'll talk like the group, act like the group, wear what it wears, do what it does, (drugs and otherwise) and give no thought to the consequences.
It doesn't make any sense.
Don't you people know it's impossible to please EVERYONE? no matter what you do, there's always that one wierdo that, unlike you, is far different than the group, but can't keep his obnoxious opinions to himself. (usually and old guy with no job and cancer) Example: "hey you stupid kids! put more salt on your food, eat uncooked meat, wear your hat at this angle!" and other such nonsense. And yet, there are those who try to satisfy others by being something they are not. these people are WHORES. (feel free to laugh, but that is a serious statement) Doing whatever someone asks you to do in exchange for something, acceptance and "freinds" in this case, is basicly prostitution.
BOTTOM LINE: I know it's old, but be yourself, and don't pretend to give a damn what others think of you... but that doesn't mean you should tune out EVERYTHING you hear, you may be wrong about something, it's tricky.
