"Really, I have more important things to do. You know that electronics cannot work in the village, so this can't be important to me." Stazja snipped, aggravated to have been interrupted in her almost constant training to meet up with her 'sister,' who apparently had important news for the other teen.
"Don't act like you're better than me simply because Mom worked a deal out with that head a*****e," the sabertooth spoke calmly, but with an edge to her voice.
Before the half-Jivvin could retort, another figure entered the room, silencing them both without the need of a hard look. Her presence was reminder enough that despite the various levels of egos, there was a need for security that neither could provide.
"Sanura," Zelda nodded towards the saber, and then to the other, "and Stazja. The barriers are up, and we are alone."
The two teenagers remained silent as the Daewl took her seat in a rather plushy armchair, folding her hands into her lap before turning her attention towards the older of the two.
Sanura took a deep breath and sighed, "I shouldn't even know this information, but long story short I caught someone searching through governmental databases, through firewalls that shouldn't be hackable..." She paused, her eyes intense on her audience, "They were looking for Mom."
"I couldn't trace them, but I was able to intercept some of the information before my connection got cut from the inside..." Trailing off, Sanura rubbed her face and growled in frustration, "Before the line went dead, I caught sight of a missing person's report, dated in the 100s, and about a hundred or so years earlier a death certificate. They could have been identical twins, or triplets rather... If you count Mom, that is. Either way, the death certificate is in Polish, while the missing person form is from Barton."
Zelda's face kept passive behind an illusion, but she glanced towards Stazja to gauge her reaction, which was one of deep thought. Otherwise, no emotion was given away. Training seemed to have worked in some areas.
The sabertooth continued, "They were looking for her... Or rather, looking for the royalty that had been first lost... Because that first girl, who I'm assuming was Mom when she was still human, well she was some important princess of a very private old money family. I looked the name up and the family's line is extinguished and their name just a legend now, like those Russians. It's reported that they all died."
She sighed deeply after a while, "I don't know what to do."
The wind chill had been creeping downward ever since the leaves had started to die, but still, despite the darkness and time of night, the daywalker continued to stroll to her destination. For the past couple of days she had been on edge, a feeling of déjà vu ever present. Keeping her awake and making her feel a bit more unhinged than usual, so to try and grasp her sanity during her insomnia, X had gone for a walk to get cigarettes.
Sure she could have taken the car or even teleported, but she needed to walk. She needed to think.
Several dark alleys later and she had reached the little shop tucked away in the corner and lit by candle light. When X walked in, she smiled to the shopkeeper, "How've you been Will?"
He jumped a little and smiled shakily, "Well, and you? The usual I presume?"
X nodded and glanced through the glass cases. Had she been alert, she would have noticed that he was severely nervous, and paler than any vampire would normally be. Of course, lack of sleep will dull ones senses.
She paid and said goodbye, fishing out a cigarette and lighting it while stuffing the rest in her coat pocket once she stepped back into the alley. Halfway through her cigarette and down the alley, X began to feel drunk and foggy. Shortly after, additional footsteps echoed behind her, and she blinked slowly looking down at the cigarette in her hand as realization clicked.
It wasn't long before everything faded to darkness.
