"Do it. Show me I'm right."
The white haired and bearded man was on his knees, gasping for air. Slowly he revealed his face as Alex, Terry's father. Blood was dripping from his mouth and he was clutching his chest. A second man was standing beside him, with his back turned. He seemed to be gazing into the setting sun. There was a long silence, as we could hear Alex breathe. Finally, he spoke.
"You think you're so good, so brave..."
"And I suppose... you.... are?" Alex had difficulties talking now.
"You killed my mother. You abandoned me when I was just a baby."
He turned around to look at Alex. The man was Terry, as an adult. Time had made him look older than he was, worried, like the weight of the world was on his shoulders. Yet somehow, he was confident.
"I... You... It... was... You are... responsible. You... and that cursed... emerald."
Terry pulled out the emerald that was ripped off his forehead years ago, and smiled as he saw the shock on his father's face.
"What? Surprised? I found it last night. I always wondered what had happened to it. I never thought you, above all people, would treasure it. Untill I found out."
Alex looked worse by the second. He took a deep breath to sound clear.
"You have no idea what this can do to... you. I kept it... hidden... to protect you."
Again a silence reigned. Terry's smile changed into a dark look.
"Liar."
"You don't understand... Your destiny... with this power... was... to end all mank..."
"I HAVE HEARD ENOUGH!"
With the burst of anger, suddenly the emerald lit up. The blinding flash of blue light started an earthquake, which launched Terry into the air, where he stopped at about 10 feet from the ground and floated. The emerald was floating in front of him. Suddenly, it clutched itself on his forehead, like it was originally supposed to. When he came down, he looked at his father again.
"I was ment to look like this."
"No..."
Terry took the sword his father left him a long time ago, and chopped of Alex' head. The light on his forehead went out.
The prophecy was true then; dark times were coming.
