She's slowed down. Like a body in rest. The heart beating no faster than it has to. All is peaceful. She smiled last night. Gathering with friends. Enjoying the skills of collision. She sat back. She never wanted to take time for granted. But here. It stopped. She was happy. She left and her heart began to ache. But she knew that she could get by. She knew that she would have to deal to overcome. She was accepted. She was loved. She was still broken. But the scars have the power to remind us that the past was real. It is real. She's not in the past anymore. She's moving on. One smile at a time.
