...Moonlit tired. Her feet hurt. D:
She's in Indiana right now~ >w<
FOR GEN CON BWAHAHAHA.
The first day of it was today. 'Twas great fun.
It's like... This huuuuge gaming convention, but it's big enough that anime, manga, arts, and lotsa other stuff are in there, too. :3
So, anyways.
We got there three hours early because we were terribly misinformed.
However, there was a DDR game all set up and me, bro, and some little kids all took turns playing it.
I sorta sucked at DDR, but I got to play it long enough that I stopped sucking so bad. >w< I can pass Captain Jack on light with a B! Yays! I still suck, but that's okay!
And I somehow managed to pass (speedy mix) Butterfly on light. Somehow. I lost the next time I played it. XD
I, I, I AM YOUR LITTLE BUTTERFLY
GREEN, BLACK AND BLUE MAKE THE COLORS IN THE SKY scream
Yeah. That song. >>;
ANYWHO.
When the convention actually started, there was a big opening ceremony that I sorta missed 'cause it was crowded. Really crowded. And Moonlit's really short. She did grow a little (she's 5'3" now!), but that's still really short.
From what Moonlit could make out, a buncha balloons fell from the ceiling and everyone started either bopping or popping 'em.
Moonlit got to bop a couple and rescued one later (I still has it). >w<
And then they opened the exhibit halls, and it was like WHOA.
I mean, it's FREAKIN' GINORMOUS.
It's like, nerd paradise.
Yeah, video games were actually a minority (Gen Con tends to cater more to tabletop tastes), but there's still a gazillion freakin' billion thingies to look at even if you couldn't care less about D&D and stuff like that.
One of the most interesting (to me, at least), was the import booths.
Sure, you can't actually read whatever it is you're buying, but since when has that stopped rabid fangirls?
I managed to pick up volumes III and IV of the ToS official manga, which I've been meaning to do but haven't because of EVIL SHIPPING COSTS OF DOOM. Import booths boost the cost a smidge, but really, anything beats shipping from Japan.
At another booth, there was a buncha cool stuff including a replica of Ed's pocketwatch from FMA. I was half-tempted to buy it, as it was actually one of the nicer pocketwatches I've seen (I like them and was sorta looking for one but I think I've pretty much given up >>; ), but I ended up not... It was $20 and I don't have as much monies as I'd like to be spending.
Speaking of not much monies...
There was this AWESOME replica weapons booth, except they were all soft so you can't hurt anyone. But they were some of the best non-metal or wood fakes I've ever seen~ They were really pricey, though. Some of them were going for almost $100. D: I would have loved to have gotten one, they had some really nice hammers (they had no polearms unfortunately, but if they did they'd probably cost the most XD)...
Swords are pretty cool, yeah, but they're boring! EVERYONE uses swords.
And my bro already has a cool wooden sword, so we don't need any more swords. XD
Anywho, point is, there were a lot of fake weapon booths around and that was my favorite.
Oh, yeah. I bought something at the booth with the FMA watch. :3
They had a wall with some keychains and cell phone straps and stuff on them, and guess what I see?
Minish Cap stuff! XD Vaati and a random Minish as cell phone straps, to be exact.
Moonlit bought 'em both. :3
Sure, she doesn't actually HAVE a cell phone, but hey.
She can hang them off her DS or Wiimote or something.
Anyways, what else did Moonlit get?
There was another import booth with some of those surprise figure things. There was a FFIII (I didn't have the game at the time, but my bro bought it after we left the convention) one that Moonlit bought because she really liked the art style. She ended up getting the little knight dude. Shame. He was one of the few that Moonlit liked less that the others (she wanted the red mage!) but he's still an awesome little dude. :3
At the same booth, Moonlit was very pleasantly suprised to see the Tales of the Abyss surprise figure set. She bought two of those~
Moonlit got... Luke B (short-haired, which is good 'cause he's way awesomer than long-haired) and Anise A.
She wanted Jade (HOW many Jades are there again?), but she looked at the picture of his figure on the back and decided that his figure was probably one of the least well done. She also wanted Ion but didn't expect to get him 'cause he's the "secret" character and thus probably the rarest. Though the B figures are rarer, too, I think (they usually just have a different weapon)...
But Moonlit's happy. :3 She didn't get Natalia, and that's good.
And the Anise figure is really, really neat! She's so adorable, standing there with her axe-mace-thing~ And the detail is great. :3 I mean, if you wanted to, you could even look up her skirt and see panties instead of a chunk of plastic that shouldn't be there but is because of lazy sculpting.
...Er, not that Moonlit did that. Not on purpose, anyways.
*cough*
Luke's figure is great, too, but his pose seems better suited for the A Luke. XD I especially like the tail things coming off his jacket (?) thing. Oh, and he can stand without the little stand that comes with him, unlike Anise and knight-dude.
One of the nice things about the TotA figures is that if you don't like them waving their little soft plastic weapons at you, you can take them off. Some of the figures look a little ridiculous without them, but Luke and Anise don't. I like them with the weapons, anyway. :3
What else did Moonlit get...
Ah, yes. See, when you register for your admission, you get a little goodie bag that has stuff like a freebie miniture (I think mine was some Star Wars guy XD), a neato die, a bunch of trading cards (A lot. I mean, EVERY SINGLE GOODIE BAG had a World of Warcraft starter deck. That's... a lot.), some fliers for stuff, and the all-important coupon book that you can use to get even more freebies in a few cases.
I mean, there was this one coupon for free booster packs and even a deck if you stuck around to play it for a brief game from this TCG called The Spoils. There was a booster pack in each goodie bag and Moonlit liked the art, so she decided to check it out.
She picked the rogue deck 'cause she likes to play as thieves and she got one friggin' awesomely drawn theif card in her booster pack. She played against bro, who picked the warlord deck.
Now, the thing about this game is that it incorporates some familiar RPG aspects, such as, faster characters move first.
Guess who's faster, thieves or warriors?
I'm seriously hoping I don't have to answer that.
And what's really cool is that yeah, whoever's turn it is is the one who attacks, but the other guy gets to "block" (shoulda been called counter-attack) and actually kill off the opponent's guys before they even touch you if yours are faster. :3
'Course, thieves are weak, but hey, power in numbers. You can all gang up on the other guy's strongest guy if it comes down to it, but then all the slower guys that you DIDN'T kill 'cause you're too weak to are gonna take their revenge. >>;
Anywho, uh, I don't feel like going into details, but the combat part is neat. You don't have to block if you don't want to, and the attacking and blocking parties can be as many of as few cards as you wish. And you can attack as many times as you want (though individual cards can only attack once per turn).
I ended up beating bro very badly 'cause I was lucky and got a strong AND fast guy out. :3
So Moonlit got to keep the deck and was given a few more booster packs. >w< Yays for free stuff!
Moonlit also got...
-An adorable Pikachu bobblehead
-Some pins with a cute cat drawn on them
-A super-special-awesome Mokona hat (she's wearing it now and she LOVES IT)
-A holo japanese Smeargle card from one of the old sets 'cause she loves Smeargle
-A Weavile card 'cause he's one of my staple Poke'mon in D/P and is thus awesome
Annnnd... Moonlit forgets if she got anything else. She might've, but my bro is pressuring me to finish the friggin' entry and get off the computer.
...Dang. Moonlit didn't get to talk about the costumes she saw. ;__;
Well, she's going to the convention again tomorrow, so she'll have to talk about them in that entry (which might not be up for a while 'cause we're starting the drive home directly after leaving it).
So, BYES!
