I know it was supposed to be a temporary server, but I have yet to get a stable computer that can hold my stuff.

I just found out that the CD-ROM drive, the Aopen 56X drive, is not compatible with the Dell Optiplex BIOS, yet it is compatible with Windows. stare Nice going, Dell. Never heard of that problem before. Because of that issue, I had to switch CD drives again. And I was only trying to free up 360 megabytes of used space from a previous Linux install on an added (secondary) hard drive.

At some point, the switched CD drive fails, so I had to use Dad's nine-year-old CD drive. crying It's the one with the stuck tray (so you have to use a paper clip every now and then) and has no door, since it came out of his Acer Aspire. gonk

I then located the free partitioning program "gparted." I grabbed the LiveCD version, because I didn't have any form of Linux installed. I burned the CD from ISO... It's funny, having Win98SE burn CDs... lol I then restarted the computer in order to boot from the CD. I managed to get rid of the Linux partition and fill the rest of the Windows FAT32 one with the remaining space, but I ran into a little problem...

Possible system memory issue!

Switched the memory card to no avail. A few minutes later, I realize that it was the 'I/O PCI/ISA board' that seemed to have failed on me! In 'GX1 _Mbtr+' mode (underscore represents the computer's CPU speed), it uses that board. In any other mode (NX1 _+, GX1 _+, GX1 _S+), it doesn't.

I finally have gotten the PC to stay stable. I don't know about using it for normal use anymore, though. But I don't have another computer that has a stable Internet connection. neutral I'll figure something out another time.


And what the hell... My entries always seem to disappear after I hit Preview or Submit. Then it directs me to my last entry! scream x2

Luckily, I always use the Copy function before I do so.
