How to Find Faery by Nan Fry
Watch and honor your cat when his green eyes look through and beyond you. do the same for your dog when she sniffs and barks at invisible things.
Find a beech forest or even one tree. Stand under it and listen. The rushing you hear will be wind in the leaves or the murmur of elves.
Take a bath in the moonlight. Where the moonbeams touch the water's skin, sometimes a nixie will swim.
Go to the shore and watch the tide ebb at sunset or sunrise. Notice how the wet sand holds the sky's hues of muave and coral.
Gruadually the light brightens or fades, and the sand returns to its own color. Even so the world of faery washes over this one, then recedes. Here and there a shell gleams.
Pick up the shell and go home. If it fades in the dry light of day, shine it with your own spit as a sign of the magic within you, that rises to meat the worlds darkness and flash.
this is a poem from the book The Faery Reel which is an EXTREMELY good book of short storys by a bunch of good authors. here is a few: Charles de Lint(The Blue Girl), Tanith Lee( ), Kelly Link(Lady Churchhill's Rosebud Wristlet), Holly Black(Tithe[WOOT!!!!!!]), Nina Kirki Hoffman(The Thread That Binds the Bones), Patricia A. McKillip(Od Magic), and Emma Bull(Finder). sum of these iv read 1 or2 of their books and the others ive read a couple of their short storys(these i will DEFINITLY find and read their books) neways....i LOVE this poem. it reminds me of...well... some cute childhood memories, and some of my favorite smells(smells of spring mostly) and its just such a wonderfull poem *grin* its creating so many ideas and images in my head! i cant resist stuff like this, like Howl's Moving Castle or some quotes or some pictures on DeviantArt or even imvu avatars. but the smells r wat inspire me the most *smiles* ...u close ur eyes and the wind blows towards ur face and u smell the cool dew on grass scent and u feel the slightly cooler air around ur skin... hehe i love everything about being outside after it rains. *grin* im one of those ppl who would rather go barefootwhen i walk around outside
