Well, this is an interesting title, and the root of a lot of pain at Nintendo. This game was primarily internet based and was a pretty basic level grind, but it has an in depth plot that ties into a series that comes before it, but I'm not here to talk about the plot. This game was very enjoyable for me, but a lot of the enjoyment didn't come from the game. It was a fairly simple task to connect the memory cards to a computer and modify files, some of the modifications you could do was force a player to be an npc and quit the game, saving the npc character of their own. Disappointing, but if you knew what was going on you could yank your memory card and watch the show. The game was also rife with duping bugs.. I mean.. since items weren't saved on the fly.. you drop them and unplug your memory card. I'm one of the people who enjoys playing a game with only the things I have achieved through my hard work and through fair trade. Kind of reminds me of The original Diablo in that respect. Except you couldn't manufacture god mode...

This version of PSO for the Dreamcast is extinct. The servers are shut down, you have to play v2 on Dreamcast, the PC version, or the Gamecube/xBox version.

My gf is an ex-employee of Nintendo and has mentioned that the company still doesn't want to admit defeat on this title. I can only hope that means they remake this. A cult classic in my mind and the sole reason I own an American Dreamcast.
