Headwind... @_<; + Pokemon, HP (spoilers in white! <3)
WOOT! No gifts yesterday! xD; the conspiracy is slipping!
Mrow!

So, I'm still slightly out of breath this morning. I rode my bicycle to work one Monday a couple of weeks ago and hadn't yet managed to do it again until this morning. After this morning's ride, when the nice breezy breezes had already started and were blowing opposite the direction I was riding... (thus the headwind comment), I decided I really ought to go see my doctor sometime soon and get a new inhaler. sweatdrop

I've got some mild asthma that's usually only induced by exercise, so I haven't used the inhaler I had much in the last couple of years, and at this point I'm not sure where it is. The 5 mile ride to work isn't too much for me, but it does push my comfort zone by quite a bit.

In other news, as was already apparent by my last journal entry, I was one of the millions standing in line Friday night to pick up my pre-order copy of the new Harry Potter book. I don't really regret the effort put forth, standing in line two hours to get my copy. I really felt sorry for those who were in say... the fifth group, waiting to get theirs. I was only in the second group of the night.

I've heard that it was crazy everywhere with the crowds coming to get the books, but I have to say that the bookstores (at least the one I was at) did not utilize their resources as well as they might have to handle the crowd. They'd divided everyone by the colored wristbands, but had no clear path for the enormous line ahead of time... in fact, they were still trying to put something up to define the line an hour and a half after they started ringing people up. This made for much disgruntlement on the part of those who'd think they were in line and be waiting patiently only to have the line shift or their branch of it get blocked, and basically lose their place.

They also had handed out raffle tickets to all those who'd made pre-orders. They started off well with this, calling out a number and having that person go to the front of the line, then about 40 minutes later calling out another number and giving that person a signed poster. I think they'd have done better to be calling out numbers about every 20 minutes though. It might have helped keep the general discontent down. It also would have been good to ask the latter groups (say groups 4 and 5 or possibly 3 as well, to go upstairs to wait. The first floor was so overcrowded you could hardly move.

So anyhow, I got my book, I took it home, I read it. I was disappointed. This story has been building and building... and the ending did not live up to the tale. This epic struggle. All the sacrifice. And at the end... we won, let's bury our dead. Then, fast forward 19 years, everyone is married with kids and sending their kids off to Hogwarts.

....

Where's the glimpse of that brighter future that they were fighting for? Where's the peek at how it's no longer kosher to refer to muggle-born wizards as mudbloods? Where's the lesson learned and remembered and being passed on to future generations?

Throwing out the ending completely... Harry sacrifices himself and allows Voldemort to kill him, but doesn't die?

....

and somehow, Dumbledore guessed that it would all happen. Even though he was dead wrong about Voldemort's previous intentions with Harry able to see through his mind. Even though he was stupid enough to get himself cursed in the first place which was why he arranged to have Snape kill him.

But -somehow- on this guess he was perfectly right.

And why is Harry suddenly able to see into Voldemort's mind again, without the Dark Lord knowing about it? There is NO explanation for that at all.

Gur. I could go on, but I'll stop now. >>;;

So, on to Pokemon. I had been planning to use a Kricketune as one of my team, but I have now discarded this idea. The pokemon simply doesn't get good enough stats. His highest stat is at least 20 points below the best stats of the rest of my team, and he's not earning very many points towards stats with each successive level. So, I'll be switching him out for the Chimchar I got. With 7 gym badges already, getting him to obey me shouldn't be a problem even though he's one I got via a trade.

I'm still working my way towards being able to get to the next Gym. I cleared the Team Galactic HQ in Veilstone, and now need to head through Mt. Coronet, but first I need to level my new team member up to around level 40 or so, so that he's comparable with the rest of my team. Iron Island... here I come.
